New verison 2.8 of Sprint Navagation out today

As I was opening up sprint navagation, it asked if I wanted to update my 2.1 version to 2.8 ota. The GUI on the map looks a lot cleaner and more refined in my honest opinion (even though I haven't used it much) looks like sprint has done a great job with this newest release.

Re: New verison 2.8 of Sprint Navagation out today

I posted this over on androidforums as well.

If you update, the new program actually installs OVER the old but doesn't REMOVE it. That being said, Sprint Navigation is now taking up double the space it was before.

Additionally, apparently, there are two versions of the Sprint Navigation, a regular and a premium. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as to which one you get when you OTA update. Noone can figure out why some have gotten premium and some have gotten the regular version. after a few comparisons (phones, plans, rooted v. not) it appears that in an apples-to-apples scenario, people are getting different versions.

If anyone has any insight to either of the issues, it'd be a great help.

from what ive seen, it will say premium somwhere on the startup screen. my question is, what is the difference? are there any extra features premium offers, or does it just say premium?

I think there are a few extra features...mainly speaking the information you want to search...not calling it in but actually speaking it

Re: New verison 2.8 of Sprint Navagation out today

I've got the premium version of 2.8. According to http://navigation.sprint.com/devices.html the Premium version adds:
Speech Input Yes
Weather Yes
Commute Alerts Yes

That page still shows the hero on 2.1, but we know that 2.8 is available OTA now.

I used the pre-kitchen to pull the old file off after downloading the new apk, then just installed the new apk on the device with any app manager.

I'm not sure if I got premium or not but it at least prevented me from having the app twice. Hope that helps

EDIT: Just realizing that for some reason doing it that way the icon is messed up tho
