Re: New verison 2.8 of Sprint Navagation out today

Just downloaded and got screwed. Did not get the premium. How can you now get it? Anyone have any ideas. Being able to speak into it is a big need. Thanks.

Re: New verison 2.8 of Sprint Navagation out today

I am speaking with a Sprint Solutions Engineer about this, and he's preliminarily come back with this response:

"….I have been trying to get some information about this matter. Here is a response that came across that is trying to answer your concern…

Premium is only available if the customer has been upgraded or provided a demo account through Telenav. Do you know if that’s the case?

Can you advise if this is the case or advise how the product was acquired? Upon your response, I will pass back to the Product Manager I am working with…we may need to engage Telenav."

I've replied to him, and am waiting for a solid answer. My reply is below:

"Thank you for getting back to me on this. The Sprint Navigation was already installed on my phone, and my plan includes the service at no extra charge.

I do not have a demo account through Telenav because they charge a monthly fee for the exact same thing that I have from Sprint Navigation. However, I can sign on to the Telenav website using my Sprint Navigation credentials.

Is there an explanation as to why my plan with Sprint, which includes the Sprint Navigation, does not warrant the Premium version of the application? As far as I can see, the plan does not make any distinction between versions of Sprint Navigation. Or for that matter, why would having a Telenav account have any effect on the version of Sprint Navigation that I get? I understand that Sprint Navigation is provided through Telenav, but why would I need a Telenav upgrade ($) to get what is supposed to be included in my plan from Sprint to begin with? This does not make sense, as you would think that a plan which includes GPS service and subsequently makes the customer a Premier customer, would have the premium version of the software.

I have been perusing online forums regarding this issue, and it would seem that Telenav cannot explain the reason either. One thread post indicated that a Telenav representative said that Sprint had to make the upgrade to Premium, not them.

I appreciate your assistance with this matter. (And once it gets ironed out, I’m sure countless other customers will appreciate it as well.)"

UPDATE: This just in, the Sprint Product Manager wanted to know how I got the 2.8 update when they were still in the process of rolling it out. Seems there are some mis-connects that need reconnecting.

Did you explain to him the painstaking level of effort it took to obtain the update? You know, all the digging you had to do by entering the application and get PROMPTED to UPGRADE!!!

I had a sneaky suspicion that this was "rolled out" prematurely, as on the Sprint Navigation Website, while it lists the perks for 2.8 v. 2.8 Premium, it does not show one device capable of running 2.8 as of yet.

Re: New verison 2.8 of Sprint Navagation out today

well this explains a lot actually. hopefully they'll finish "rolling it out" and it'll be "official" and we can all have 2.8 Premium

Re: New verison 2.8 of Sprint Navagation out today

Update to my previous post, courtesy of my diligent Sprint Solutions Engineer (he will keep me updated if anything more comes down.):

They are still in the process of rolling out the v2.8 update. There will be a Premium upgrade available in April for about $4.99 if you already have the Standard version.

Those of you who already have Premium, it's supposedly because you have a subscription to Telenav or are on a demo Telenav subscription.

I'd pay $4.99 for the Premium upgrade, as long as it's only that one time cost, and not monthly.

Re: New verison 2.8 of Sprint Navagation out today

I uninstalled 2.8, then pulled what I guess were system remnants of 2.1 (I don't remember what it showed in applications but i thought it was smaller than 1 mb) with pre-kitchen, then reinstalled 2.8. It's still showing 6.99 mb.
