So, apparently the pre-kitchen wont work for my hero because it's not a sprint phone. I found a root process for non sprint phones but it's pretty complicated and you lose everything and there's no way to go back to the stock once you do it.

I guess Ill just have to wait till non sprint users get a little more love.

Go through it and load the recovery. Then do a nandroid backup right there. You will be stock except rooted. No one will know any difference.

Then start putting roms on it.
