Re: Turn by Turn Options
CoPilot is pretty good -- not as slick as Garmin in my opinion (who will have their own android phones soon), but a reasonable alternative -- of course, it's also not free.
If you root and flash a custom rom with Donut (1.6) or higher you can use the updated Google Maps (with Turn-by-Turn) -- and that is a good free option, but still dependent on a good signal for internet. Are there other good options? I would also like to know.

Looks like we are the only ones that use turn by turn GPS. Guess ill give Sprint Nav another try.

Re: Turn by Turn Options
I use Sprint Nav and it works fine. It's not as good as my Nuvi, but it works well and at least the map resolution matches the display resolution, unlike the Diamond.
You say you haven't even tried Sprint Nav. Why not? It's free and it came with your phone. Go try it. |

Re: Turn by Turn Options
I like Sprint Nav...nothing fancy but gets the job done...is there a google maps navigation apk to install for our heroes yet? Seems like the Droid is having some of the fun without us.

Re: Turn by Turn Options
I have the APK for it. I can email it to you if you like - you'd have to do "adb push Sprint_Navigator.apk /system" and reboot.

OOOOOhhhh. Does it work on our diamonds? If so, i would like it myself. EDIT: Nevermind, i misread, thought you said you had the google navigation apk. Lol. I appreciate the offer but i am not at a computer i can do it at right now. Wouldnt App Installer work? |

Yes, App Installer would work. I prefer to avoid unnecessary software - it's just as easy if not easier to do adb push. I thought you might have access to adb but maybe not the app installer where you are. Doesn't matter, though, was just offering just in case I think you'll be happy with Sprint Nav though. It works well. |
