If you root and flash a custom rom with Donut (1.6) or higher you can use the updated Google Maps (with Turn-by-Turn) -- and that is a good free option, but still dependent on a good signal for internet.

EDIT: I notice you are running Fresh -- so you should be able to install an updated Google Maps (3.2.1+ ?) with turn-by-turn if it's not already on there. I believe there may be issues with turn-by-turn outside of the US, but again, shouldn't be an issue for you.

Yeah i dont know what Build Google maps Im running but i hate how it doesnt recalculate the route when i get off course or move the screen with my icon on the map.
