Unrooting Htc Hero

I was trying to restore a nandroid backup after flashing the Fresh rom and received errors. I also tried flashing new images to see if that was the problem and I still received errors that everyone down at XDA were complaining about also. Right about now, all I want to do is to unroot my phone to start off from scratch but when I do I get the Error[140] no matter what (I tried literally 20 times in almost every way possible). I was wondering if someone could possibly help me get back to stock, though I'm not sure how it would be possible, if I am installing the RUU incorrectly or if I need a nandroid backup from the stock sprint htc rom. Thanks

Re: Unrooting Htc Hero

Is your battery charged? I can't get the stupid Stock RUU to run on any pc. I want someone to make a stock rom that can be flashed from the SD.

Re: Unrooting Htc Hero

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, I tried to run the Stock RUU with around 80% battery life, but when I ran it, it would get to the point where it would say Updating Signature, and quickly after that I would get Error[140]: Bootloader Version Error. I'm not sure what causes it though.

I think that utility is just junk haha. PM Flipz and see if he can make a stock unrooted rom that can be flashed from SD.

Re: Unrooting Htc Hero

Haha, i agree completely! I had another HTC Hero previous to this current one which now gives me an error when trying to run the Stock RUU. I will PM Flipz and will update back on any possibilities.

Re: Unrooting Htc Hero

I got datboy's PM. I have never once had a problem with the RUU but I have been having people try to run it to unroot so that they can test my auto-rooter and a shocking number of people are getting errors from it.

I'll get a stock rom put up tonight. I'll put the link on here.

Re: Unrooting Htc Hero

Will someone that is having this problem PM me? I want to try something.

Having adb skills is preferred but not required. I can teach.

Heh heh...oops...I think I messed up. When I flashed back to the original Sprint RUU, I did a nandroid backup, but wasn't connected to my computer. Think I might be screwed...

Nandroid stores the backups on the sd card on your phone. There's no need to be connected to your computer.
