also Doc you may know how to do this since you have both but I've noticed the HD2 has the slide to unlock mechanism enabled without having a password assigned, do you know how to do this with the TP2? I can only get it to do the slide to unlock when I have a password assigned which is obnoxious, so I want it to screen lock but without a password also, I was going through the customize tabs menu and I also found the HD2 has a tab for HTC Footprints while the app is completely absent from the TP2, although that may be a manufacturer or carrier choice due to the different target markets of each device Last edited by jbearamus; 04-11-2010 at 02:27 PM. |

Wirelessly posted (PPCGEEKS Fire Dept.: Opera/9.70 (Windows NT 5.1; U; en) TMO-US_LEO)
that's why the hd2 has things correct out the box, slide doesn't work on stock sprint 6.5, does on this. most custom sliders are based off the hd2 prior to the release, i has yet to see a slider with sprint navi & tv. |

and what exactly do you mean slider with navi & tv? do you mean the tabs that are built into manila? if so then you've already answered your question, the custom 6.5 roms with Sense for the TP2 are based on the HD2's which is why they're not there, the tabs i'm referring to are part of the stock 6.5 TP2 rom released a few weeks ago Last edited by jbearamus; 04-11-2010 at 04:17 PM. |

Re: HD2 I'm not sold...
I have had the touch diamond, touch pro, touch pro2 and now the HD2. The simplest way to compare the TP2 and the HD2 is speed and responsiveness for everything you do is just better with the HD2. With the TP2 there were many times where it would lag when using the Sense interface (I often used the stock 6.5 interface instead because it was snappier). The roms posted on this forum made the TP2 better, but not as snappy as the stock rom on the HD2. Just scrolling across the TF interface, scrolling through contacts, or scrolling down the program list demonstrates a significant "smoothness" difference.
For the GPS, I have always gone back and forth between Bing and the Sprint GPS. So, losing the Sprint GPS doesn't really bother me. I really can't compare Telenav to the Sprint GPS program yet. Maybe others can? http://m.bing.com/download is by a long shot my favorite app now. It says the HD2 isn't supported, but you can install it anyway and it works wonderfully. Everyone says that you get used to the onscreen keyboard but there is no alternate universe where the onscreen keyboard is as nice as the TP2. The TP2 keyboard is great. . .of course, the keyboard also makes the phone fatter and gives it the feeling of a brick in your pocket. Never bothered me, but I can see pro/con for each. $ is another factor in favor of the HD2. Right now, with TMob, you can even get a buy 1 get 1 free. . .with a new contract, you can pick up 2 HD2's for about $200. |

I personally just dont see the big speed everyone is talking about... its noticeable in some areas such as web browsing.. but then lacks terribly again in messaging.

Re: HD2 I'm not sold...
Not sure how that's happening for you.. I can leave about 10 apps open and go to messaging and it's still blazing quick. Puts my old heavily tweaked and sped up Diamond on a fast custom rom to shame. And I have a couple thousand text messages or so total (inbox + sent).
