I bet the phone still will be upgradeable. I also think that Microsoft will be releasing 7 WAY ahead of schedule.

CES 2010 was official announcement that HTC HD2 is coming to T-Mobile USA, with full 3G support.

However there is one serious reason why you should not buy HTC HD2 at T-Mobile USA:

Even though Windows Mobile 6.5 was unveiled officially at Mobile World Congress 2009 in February 2009 and then it was released in form of upgrades and new phones in October 2009, until today (January 2010!) still T-Mobile USA has not released an upgrade to Windows Mobile 6.5 for HTC Touch Pro2! To be precise: HTC has published 6.5 upgrade for Pro2 but this version was removed - apparently due to instability issues. Nonetheless the fact is that HTC Touch Pro2 purchased outside of T-Mobile USA and purchased from other operators/carriers already got upgrade to Windows Mobile 6.5, but HTC Touch Pro2 from T-Mobile USA till this day has no upgrade to Windows Mobile 6.5. This is absolutely disgraceful and only T-Mobile USA is to blame obviously.

So now you see: you should not buy HTC HD2 at T-Mobile USA because it will not be getting upgrades quickly (if at all).
In other words: if T-Mobile USA will be selling HTC HD2 without Windows Mobile 7, then don't even consider buying this phone!

Windows Mobile 7 on HTC HD2 coming November, confirmed by HTC staff again?

By now I think it is pretty safe to assume Windows Mobile 7 will eventually be coming to the HTC HD2.

The latest confirmation comes from a response to a customer question sent last month asking about the very issue of an upgrade.

I would be quite upset if the HD2 couldn't get the WinMo 7 upgrade late this year. It seems like HTC designed the phone with WM 7 in mind and MS screwed everybody by delaying WM7 again. And they wonder why they are losing market share rapidly to Android OS...

I'm not worried about HD2 and a possible upgrade to WinMo 7. I read somewhere today that HD2 owners can get the free upgrade from microsoft.com when it is available.

So I'm not worried if T-mo doesn't upgrade for me, I'll just do it myself.
