I would like to thank The creators of revolutionary. If you are reading this you are greatly appreciated.
I want to also thank trav230 for posting step by step directions and links. I rooted my phone with out a hitch. Thanks so much. |

The easiest most straightforward way is to install ROM Manager from the Market.
After you install it, launch it and click on FLASH ALTERNATE RECOVERY (You might first have to install clockwork recovery, but I am not certain of that.)

Same. Things happened to me with another rom... I pulled the battery and while it was booting up.. I held down the power and volume down... Then I just restored my EVO to old settings

I also couldn't get the synergy to work. Same thing, stuck at the boot screen. I'm going to head over to xda to find a solution.
edit: did some reading, you need the latest clock work mod recovery, or Amon Ra recovery and it says allows 10-30 minutes to boot Last edited by mo"G"ul; 08-23-2011 at 08:48 PM. |

I've been doing some reading...and I noticed that revolutionary isn't exactly root...I'm confused. What am I able to do with s-off, and recovery? I want to have WiFi tether...and all the benefits of rooting, but it doesn't seem possible with revolutionary...any answers?

Re: revolutionary.io root for Evo 4G 2.3.3
Revolutionary gives you S-OFF, unlocking NAND Protection. You also need to follow the directions to install Superuser, which gives you root. You need S-OFF to install Superuser (I think).
A custom recovery allows you to install a custom rom. You need NAND unlocked to install a custom recovery. S-OFF gives you unlocked NAND. Some of the benefits of rooting: You can use the wifi-thether thing... You can remove unwanted SystemApps like NFL, NASCAR, ETC... (use caution) You can use ADFREE ANDROID to block many ads. You can use custom themes (If you are into that) You can grows leaves and fruit, once you roots go far into the ground. Last edited by mikewest; 08-26-2011 at 09:36 AM. |
