Sprint is actually gonna unleash a faster 3G evdo rev B were we will get up to 9MB download speed and 5mb up its a imporvement , but if you got the EVO 3D with the 3rd generation chipset your gonna love it cause your gonna get 14MB Downloads 10MB uploads.
They are also gonna have NAT open on this update . That's means you can actually play games online for once using your mobile hotspot . You ask how I know this well i got a freind who works for sprint putting up there towers or fixing them . He didnt give me excat date but he did tell me it should be soon like it could be this month , next month or Dec. He not sure but he says its supposed to be Oct 2 of this year but Sprint wants to do it earlier . Also he gave me this link to look at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zp_jp...e_gdata_player Anyways I figured I let you peeps know unless you already knees this . If this if true then that is great. But the chance of that happening is very low. Unless they are getting ready for the iPhone launch. Since iphone 5 most likely won't be 4g it will help to have current 3g update.

Re: Any1 else tired of their HTC EVO?
I heard about that "Network Vision" thing before.....something about Sprint using the Nextel spectrum on top of their own to get faster data speeds and what not.......but I've had my Evo 4G for over a year now......and it's never seen the light of 4G.....nor did Sprint's 3G get any faster.....while at the same time Verizon launched their LTE service and when my boss let me play with it on his Droid Charge (Samsung) it was ridiculously fast.
If Spring could get 10mb down/5mb up I would be SO HAPPY with just that..........but they don't right now......so I'm not! And who knows how long this will take?!

@radar369 I agree with you. As an investor, I would have liked to have seen them increase 3g speeds forget about 4G all together. I live in southern California so I have 4G just about everywhere my speeds range from 4 to 8mb down with 1.2 up I would have been happier with 3g at 3 down and 1.2 up.

Re: Any1 else tired of their HTC EVO?
fully complete in 3 years ha? by then I doubt they will be in business >.>
See as far as 4g goes...they still don't have NYC covered fully in 4g and NYC is the most population dense area..so there really is 0 reason why this place isn't fully covered...and they did initial deployment, then another increased deployment and still not fully covered.. In comparison verizon got this place fully covered in 1 shot with no issues :/... And not only that they are using OLD wimax equipment....so yes, deploying Rev B would probably get you better speeds and coverage over what they are using now for 4G..

On another note, the Galaxy S2 comes out tomorrow. Anyone leaving Evo to get it tomorrow? I am going to wait for a month or two before I switch.

Re: Any1 else tired of their HTC EVO?
Dont giv up on sprint quite yet. Theres a few features Sprint has now that no other Us carrier has. The largest feature is the truly unlimited 3G/4G data plan thar Sprint still offers. Every other US cell carrier claims they have an unlimited plan but most carriers data plans are capped/throttled down after reaching 2GB a month. Some carriers will let u upgrade your data plan to 5GB a month for anothr $20.
Not to mention my Evo 4G runnin MikGs,v.2.52,Sense 2.1-3.0 running the new V6 Supercharger, the middle 512HP setting,& 3G Turbocharger-setting 3(fastest),& the Kickass kernel tweaks, newest update with no io tweaks. The io tweak makes my Evo bootloop, or freeze. Enuf about my Evo. Everybody likes there Evo the best. Including me,but to my point. The person who posted the Verizon 4G lte speeds, just be patient. Sprint hasnt even announced that they are even starting to test 4G,WiMax,in my city, but about 6-8 weeks ago i simply turned my 4G on,just for shits & giggles,& wouldnt u know it my Evos, runnin an older version of MikG then,4G just turned on. That was around 2 months ago,& the 4G in my city still only covers about 1/3 the city, but i have noticed over the past 3-5 weeks my 3G signal is noticeable stronger,& my 3G data has become 15%-50% faster depending on the time of day & my location. I cant determine if my 3G speeds are due to the 3G Turbocharger,or V6 Supercharger. I can tell a noticeable difference since the last prl update,& the latest radio,& Evo ota software in the performance of my Evo. Its runnin great now. My Evo has never run this fast, stable, reliable,& all while running Semse 2.1-3.0 too. I think nows a great time to be an Evo 4G owner. All the new roms starting to pour out now. The very stable, smooth,& fast Sense 2.1-3.0 custom roms run seamless, very stable, lightnin fast & there are quite a few other great roms in the works;Sense 3.0(almost perfect on the evo),the new Sense 3.5 roms coming out,& of course all the great Sense-less roms like CM7,MIUI,& so many more i cant possibly think of them all. My preference is the Sense 3.0 roms, but until they run as smooth as the Hybrid Sense 2.1-3.0 roms,im gona stick with my favorite, tried & true,MikG 2.xx Sense 2.1-3.0 series roms. Miks roms are top-notch,stable,& pretty fast right out the box. I do add a few personal tweaks, but the roms run great right after flashing. Theres no need to mod/tweak it,but i cant help myself. Cant wait to see all the new roms, options,& features to come over the next few months. Keep up the great work everybody,& thanks for sharing. We,I,greatly appreciate everything u do to keep improving what used to be the best android device,& its still hanging in there thanks to u guys. |

Re: Any1 else tired of their HTC EVO?
you said a few features and named only 1 lol...and no other carrier advertises unlimited data ever since they switched..other then maybe t-mobile...unless of course you meant boost mobile/virgin which are owned by sprint..
As for your recent increase in 3g..considering sprint didnt do anything until their network vision plan was ready..its either a nearby tower was fixed, your old prl was locking to a farther away tower, or the radio is better...its not something sprint brought to the table thats for sure.. |

Re: Any1 else tired of their HTC EVO?
I would like to give 6 months to the unlimited data that Sprint is still sporting. Think they'll start tiering it up AFTER a few months of the iPhone (more than likely) launch on the network. Hesse has mentioned before that they(Sprint) has not ruled out a tiered data plan in the future. Considering that there will be a data spike when the iPhone comes to Sprint...I don't see the unlimited data as a permanent thing for Sprint. Case in point...check out the Premier program getting scraped just ahead of 2 HUGE launches...check out the 30 day return program...JUST ahead of the Epic Touch launch.
I love my EVO...love what it can do...and love the things WE can make it do. I am a gadget hound and just HAVE to have the latest and greatest. Am sitting put until the everything "new" is launched...and will upgrade from the EVO around DEC. by that point in time...the iPhone (4or5), Galaxy would both be launched and early adopter bugs would have been worked out. Maybe by that time...we'll have root and custom ROMs ready for the Galaxy.
