Considering the specs..to get a good experience for what current Android is probably places:

800mhz on processor
Adreno 205

aka a 2nd gen processor is what I would put as a decent experience on Android for WVGA resolution.

Now if resolution goes up to 720p for example..it would definitely require more processing..not to mention multiple cores are definitely needed to make multitasking smoother..or aka background processors..Then there is the new GPU tech that allows you to run Adobe Flash and other stuff 100% on the GPU and hardware acceleration.

Of course we expect Android to improve and take a bigger step..similar to how Windows 7 is much more hardware intensive then say XP...

Aka Hardware has definitely not reached its limit just yet..but we are getting there..
Aka galaxy s II

But look at the growth of ppcs vs. Netbooks and tablets. Ppcs are growing at a faster rate. I would hope the new EVO will at the very least be competitive. Competition is really getting fierce nowadays. HTC was q groundbreaker with the EVO and nexus, but a year later the same devices are flagships. Wtf. You can't mearly exceed the competition now, you have to destroy it.
Cmon htc, year ago who was Motorola and Samsung?

Cooler than your EVO

I'm personally waiting on a quad core by end of the year :P..so far my phone is doing everything I want it to do so I'm happy..

As for the Evo 3D, how do you know its not interesting? have you seen specs anywhere?

The Thunderbolt has LTE, the Atrix has HSPA which on AT&T sucks terribly. Enough said. And all of those cores dont really mean much until they come out with a version of Android that can actually utilize em.

except HSPA+ is compatible with GSM, LTE is also compatible with GSM..CDMA and LTE is not..this make it more of an issue for things like battery and require extra radio and gets weird when it swaps from 3g->4g...

Either way I dont like ATT either but Atrix is some nice hardware for this time frame...

And honeycomb can use those cores when ported..either way even single core it will run circles around the Thunderbolt..

Run circles around? Please.. running circles around is the difference between the thunderbolt benchmark and the evo benchmark. There isnt much of a difference between the Thunderbolt and the Atrix considering one has a single core and another has dual core. And again, the Atrix is on AT&T's network so there's no WAY that's even an option. Their HSPA has been tested at a whopping 2 megs down where as Verizon's LTE has hit bursts of 30 megs down.

All that other mess I couldnt care less about. The Atrix could have a 6 core processor with a 5 inch screen and just because it's on AT&T I still wouldnt buy it so I dont even consider their phones.

There is a huge difference with the processors. I am a bit of a HTC fanboy, but I must say that the Atrix hardware is superior. It uses dual core ARM cortex-a9 chip architecture which is the latest. The chip is also 40nm. The gfx chip is ultra low voltage and is labeled as an 8-core. What does this mean? More efficient processing power with way lower power consumption.

The new snapdragon is still based off of the old snapdragon but made with 45nm, not 65nm like the EVO. Additionally, gfx got bumped up from the shitty adreno 200 to adreno 205 which is leaps and bounds better but a little behind as far as the competition. Even the "new" dual core snapdragons (announced last year) are based on this older framework.

Another thing besides having a better screen and better camera, it can also connect to international only CDMA networks.

So no, there is a HUGE difference.

I still love my Evo. However, I am ready for something new. Maybe this new Evo I heard talks about. The Evo 3D?
