I may flip it on now an then on a long trip to see how far to an interchange, or to the destination, but in general, there is something in me that doesn't want to surrender my navigation entirely to it, any more than I would surrender math skills to a calculator.

Being a pilot myself I find it hard to beleive that you dont use very much technology in the ****pit sure it might be 30 years old but VOR, ADF, Loran. Any way I think the GPS is a great addition to mans navigation skills. I personally love flying with one of course I have my backups if it fails but just being able to file a flight plan as direct is sure a nice conveince when going cross country.
That being said ive gotten about 7 hours no problem out of my phones GPS while on the road.
