Forced Roam on the the EVO or Android?

Can we do Forced Roaming on the the EVO or for that matter Android?
I read yes but it hasn't been proven easy for the lay user.

The hero on stock version does not have this option. It really doesn't have anything to do with android because you can do it with gsm, its just a matter of someone creating a program that will enable it.

Just curious, but what is the point of forcing roaming? That a little work-around for people who live in an area with no reception on their home network, but someone else's tower has good coverage??

Yes. When I am @ my sister's place in Tampa, for some odd reason, SPCS doesn't work well there & drains all my battery.
I just switch over to force roam & grab the nearest VZW tower ( I suspect it is & not a ATT Tower) & walla, strong signal & less battery drain.

Also some ppl use it where they work due to inadequate coverage within buildings.

With force roam the handset has to spend less time & energy looking for a Sprint tower & just picks the most powerful tower & signal nearby....usually a VZW tower.

Interesting, that makes sense then. I don't even know, does sprint charge for that roaming? I'm guessing no.

I've never known roaming to be completely "free" with Sprint. I think only certain plans include free roaming. I think because mostly anyone with an Evo, has to have an unlimited "Everything Plan", roaming is included for free.
