Re: 4G Won't Connect

Update. Tried the first link above. No change. Still show that MAC address is OK, RSA Keys are fine, but still get same errors as in post #1.

Re: 4G Won't Connect

Another update: I followed Section 6 in FastRX8's thread and am now connected. Now, to get everything back to where I want it. Any idea where I may have screwed things up?

For shits-and-giggles I did a speed test. 7.21 mbps down, 1.01 mbps up. Sweet.

Cool Re: 4G Won't Connect

I try to do the combo update of radio, wimax, and PRI all at once. I had the latests OMJ ROM V 4.1 at that time. Once I update the combo it killed my 4G and deleted my RSA keys. I had to take it back to sprint and get it replace with a new one. Now I learned my lesson and learned to back up my 4G keys just in case. I try deleting my 4G keys and let the phone generate a new one and that did not work. I also try to manually change with the address unde the battery and that did not work either. Last resort was to un-root and take it back to the store for a replacement.

I don't even know. Since I never used UnrEVOked I followed these steps to unroot my phone:

Quote:
6H) Power off the phone and reboot into the recovery by holding VOL DOWN + POWER until it boots to the white screen. Then select RECOVERY.

6I) Connect via USB. There is an option for this in both Amon RA and Clockwork.

6J) Transfer the PC36IMG.zip to the root of your sdcard.

6K) EJECT THE PHONE FROM THE COMPUTER and then turn off USB in Recovery

6L) Power off the phone and reboot into the bootloader by holding VOL DOWN + POWER until it boots to the white screen.

6M) It should check the PC36IMG.zip and then ask you YES/NO to apply the update. Press VOL UP for YES

6N) Once complete, Press VOL UP to reboot.
Funny thing is, Section 6 appears to only reroot the phone. I'm still on froyo (2.2), and have software # 3.26.651.6. But for some reason that made 4G work again. Baseband = 215.00.07.28, PRI = 1.90_003, not sure what wimax version I'm running. When I run "wimax_mtd" I get:

Quote:
Open WiMAX partition ........ ERROR
OK
Get HTC WiMAX Tag ........ ERROR
OK
Verify WiMAX Tag (j)........ NOT MATCH
PASS
Read WiMAX partition ........ ERROR
OK
Check Firwmare Version (4.6.2.2v26023_) ........ p,
Verify MFG Fireware Key ........ NOT MATCH
[1] + Stopped (signal) wimax_mtd
I'm sure that's because I'm not rooted anymore, though. Not great with this technical stuff.

Thanks again for any help/input. I'm going to put things back to OMJ's latest ROM and see what happens.

Josh

Re: 4G Won't Connect

I was having problems getting my 4G to remain connected. The status would change to Disconnected immediately after making a connection. I check almost everything. RSA Keys were fine. I thought it may have been the android-wifi-tether install so I removed it. Still no 4G. Just as I was about to turn in @ 3am, I realized the WIFI was enabled. After shutting that down - low and behold - 4G immediately connected. So glad I didn't go through the trouble of unrooting.

your wimax version is 26023, which I believe is the version that came w/ the 3.26 ROM.

did you still need the original evo-recovery?

Cool. Thanks.

At this point I guess I don't need my original evo-recovery. However, since I still had Froyo I started working through this again using this thread:

[GUIDE] How to root Android 2.2 on the EVO 4G Outdated - xda-developers

Everything was going great. I got back to 2.1 no problem. Then I got to the rooting with unrevoked3. The guide in that link is a little screwy and didn't mention rebooting the phone after installing the updated USB drivers until later in the process, out of order. I attempted to reboot the phone and got the red triangle of death. Uggh. I'll work through it, I'm sure. Just slowing things down here.

Edit: Turns out I accidentally forgot to uninstall HTC Sync, which caused the red triangle. All good now.

Re: 4G Won't Connect

Update. Here's what I've done to get everything up and running. Sorry for the long copy-and-paste post, but I wanted this to stay preserved if "Section 6" from FastRX8's thread changes. Here's a link to the post that has the links to the requred files, etc.:

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/1793726-post2.html

Read my first post for my phone's history.

Quote:
Section 6 -

Simple Instructions -
If you're comfortable with everything Android related(flashing, recovery, etc.) then its just 2 simple steps:

1) If you used Unrevoked Forever at any time, flash unrevoked-forever-son.zip from recovery until hboot shows S-ON
2) Flash the PC36IMG.zip from hboot

Detailed Instructions -
If you have used Unrevoked forever, start here
6A) Make sure you have downloaded the files linked above. Do not extract them

6B) Connect your phone to your computer via USB and change to "Disk Drive" by dragging down from the notification bar.

6C) If you have NOT used Unrevoked Forever, skip to the instructions below. If you have, transfer unrevoked-forever-son.zip to the root of your sdcard. Do NOT transfer the PC36IMG yet. It'll only cause a hassle and make this take longer.

6D) Once complete, power off the phone

6E) reboot into the recovery by holding VOL DOWN + POWER until it boots to the white screen. Then select RECOVERY.

6F) Depending on what recovery you're using, you need to flash a zip. Select the unrevoked-foreverson.zip that you just transferred and complete the flash.

6G) When complete, power off the phone. Reboot into the bootloader by holding VOL DOWN + POWER until it boots to the white screen. If it says S-ON at the top, select RECOVERY and skip to step 6I. If it says S-OFF, repeat steps 6E-6G Until it does.

If you have not used Unrevoked forever, start here

You are now unrooted!
After this I was unrooted but still on Foryo. I then rooted again/rerooted using unrevoked3 as described in this guide:

[GUIDE] How to root Android 2.2 on the EVO 4G Outdated - xda-developers

After this I am left with rooted "stock" Android 2.2 (Froyo) and working 4G/Wimax.

I just flashed OMJ 2.2 v.4.2. 4G is still working. Pretty exciting.

Thanks everyone for the help. I haven't yet restored my backups yet. Nor have I messed with any radio updates.

Re: 4G Won't Connect

You are probably safe to do a good Nandroid BU and then update to a 3.7 Rom with 1.90 radio.
