Re: 4G Won't Connect
Another update: I followed Section 6 in FastRX8's thread and am now connected. Now, to get everything back to where I want it. Any idea where I may have screwed things up?
For shits-and-giggles I did a speed test. 7.21 mbps down, 1.01 mbps up. Sweet. |

Re: 4G Won't Connect
I try to do the combo update of radio, wimax, and PRI all at once. I had the latests OMJ ROM V 4.1 at that time. Once I update the combo it killed my 4G and deleted my RSA keys. I had to take it back to sprint and get it replace with a new one. Now I learned my lesson and learned to back up my 4G keys just in case. I try deleting my 4G keys and let the phone generate a new one and that did not work. I also try to manually change with the address unde the battery and that did not work either. Last resort was to un-root and take it back to the store for a replacement.

Re: 4G Won't Connect
I don't even know. Since I never used UnrEVOked I followed these steps to unroot my phone:

Thanks again for any help/input. I'm going to put things back to OMJ's latest ROM and see what happens. Josh |

Re: 4G Won't Connect
I was having problems getting my 4G to remain connected. The status would change to Disconnected immediately after making a connection. I check almost everything. RSA Keys were fine. I thought it may have been the android-wifi-tether install so I removed it. Still no 4G. Just as I was about to turn in @ 3am, I realized the WIFI was enabled. After shutting that down - low and behold - 4G immediately connected. So glad I didn't go through the trouble of unrooting.

At this point I guess I don't need my original evo-recovery. However, since I still had Froyo I started working through this again using this thread: [GUIDE] How to root Android 2.2 on the EVO 4G Outdated - xda-developers Everything was going great. I got back to 2.1 no problem. Then I got to the rooting with unrevoked3. The guide in that link is a little screwy and didn't mention rebooting the phone after installing the updated USB drivers until later in the process, out of order. I attempted to reboot the phone and got the red triangle of death. Uggh. I'll work through it, I'm sure. Just slowing things down here. Edit: Turns out I accidentally forgot to uninstall HTC Sync, which caused the red triangle. All good now. Last edited by jjbehren; 01-07-2011 at 12:15 AM. |

Re: 4G Won't Connect
Update. Here's what I've done to get everything up and running. Sorry for the long copy-and-paste post, but I wanted this to stay preserved if "Section 6" from FastRX8's thread changes. Here's a link to the post that has the links to the requred files, etc.:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/1793726-post2.html Read my first post for my phone's history. Quote:
[GUIDE] How to root Android 2.2 on the EVO 4G Outdated - xda-developers After this I am left with rooted "stock" Android 2.2 (Froyo) and working 4G/Wimax. I just flashed OMJ 2.2 v.4.2. 4G is still working. Pretty exciting. Thanks everyone for the help. I haven't yet restored my backups yet. Nor have I messed with any radio updates. Re: 4G Won't Connect
You are probably safe to do a good Nandroid BU and then update to a 3.7 Rom with 1.90 radio.
