Re: New ota 3.70.651 12-15-10

Where can I get the newest ota update that will install on a rooted evo? Last update had to be installed from a zip file but I can't find it this time. Ive searched and searched and can't find anything on it. Would appreciate the help.

Look over at xda-developers. SteelH has stock rooted Roms. Also Azrael has a "Turbo" stock Rom which I would recommend either Rom chefs work.

I figured it out. I installed a previous recovery image through clockwork and then ran the ota update. I lost root but then ran the new updated unrevoked and now I am rooted again. Thank you unrevoked team. You outdid yourself again.

So Yankee, I'm not rooted yet- still stock with build 3.30, hboot 2.02, hardware version 0003 and I haven't accepted the update. When I get ready to root, would it be wise to update to 3.70 before root, or root after the update? It seems you chose to go back and get the update, then re-root, correct?
I don't even know why I think I should root. I'm very content with the stock evo, except for battery. With my tp2 I was flashing every other day. But that was simple an less risky than this crap for evo...

The UnRevoked boys seemed to have it worked out now. ClockworkMods a little screwing but all you need to do it reflash Amon. Use the Image I have posted above but get rooted first and then we can talk about it.

One step at a time.

I recommend you update first. Only reason I had to go back was because I was rooted already and it wouldn't accept the ota update. Since you have never been rooted just run ota update and then use unrevoked.

About rooting, I thought I didn't need root also because the phone is a great phone already. But with root you can get free wifi tethering and use programs that improve your battery life like setcpu. Also you can do a full backup of your phone and be able to restore it identical to how you backed it up. Theres also all those cool custom roms that offer many different features like great battery life and lots of space. So rooting has more benefits than negatives.

I'm running the latest Sprint Lovers Rom, it's that latest OTA without Blockbuster, Nova & Kindle. No problems so far, battery life is the same as before.
