Just got my EVO

I just got my EVO! Took me a while to decide to leave WM but I did it. Just got home and installed my Steinheil screen protector. Not sure how well I like it but it works for now. The edges don't seem to want to stay down.

Anyway I am reading all this rooting info and it sounds a little scary. I flashed quite a bit with the HTC Diamond, Pro, Pro 2. I am willing to jump in but looks like a lot of reading to do and some different lingo.

What is a good contact backup program? I got my phone from Walmart and they didn't move my contacts over so I guess I will have to do that the old fashioned way....one at a time.

What is a good body cover? I want something that fits tight and is not slippery.

I made the jump not too long ago and haven't looked back. For contacts, I just sync them with my gmail account...no program needed.

You can use Google to store your contacts. If your contacts are on computer in Outlook you can use HTC Sync to get them on phone. Then you can sync contacts with google account and keep them there when changing roms. You will not need HTC Sync after that just remove. What version is your phone, 001-004 are out know,

I have never used Google, or outlook, I might have a gmail account that I never used. The phone is -003

Take both phones to the Sprint store in your area and they'll move the contacts over for you... I reccomend the one at the mall on Friday. LOL.

No... But on the real...
I just got my wife's TP replaced... Her screen went out... She never backed up her contacts and never used outlook either... But they were able to move her contacts over.
They have a little machine that does that.
There are many Sprint stores that are far from the mall.
I have like 3 by my house.
It's a good option if you don't find a way to do it easily.

If I do that is there a way to then export it to Gmail?

I'm not an Android guy.... But I believe Android has made it very easy to sync your contacts with Gmail. Someone here will be able to better assist you though. I would try adding a contact or two to your phone and then seeing if I could figure out how to sync. Then once all my contacts are on there... It would be a piece of cake or muffin or dougnut or eclair or whatever it's called now. lol.
