By Law it is illegal to change an ESN to obtain service you aren't paying for. If your obtaining service that you ARE paying for by changing your esn how is that illegal?

Re: Evo to Verizon?

Fail to everyone who said you can take a sprint phone to verizon. Negative. Not gonna happen ever! The phone esn has to be in the device mobile database and it is never gonna get added. You are going to have to use cdma workshop, and some skills, clone a esn which is already on VZ. Too much work and illegal. There is no more loophole in verizon either. It has been closed.

No by law it is illegal to clone the ESN even if you own both...the "obtaining service that you ARE paying for" is what got the law passed. The only oens who can modify the ESN are the manufacturer and the carriers..otherwise it is illegal...

Yes. As it stands right now, it is a federal offense to move or modify a handsets ESN. There are no extenuating circumstances. There are no loopholes. ESNs and MEIDs are regulated by the FCC and the FCC alone. If you mess with ESNs or MEIDs, you have officially broken a federal law. No ifs, ands, or buts.

Re: Evo to Verizon?

So as mentioned earlier, how did people use uncrippled Sprint touch pros on Verizon? And why do so many Touch Pro 2 roms have the ability to change carrier provisions to Telus, Verizon, Sprint or US Cellular?

Before there were no ESN whitelists on Verizon..but the Verizon version of the TP was crippled by Verizon..so instead they bought Sprint TP and used it on Verizon...once whitelist came about it became impossible. Then at one point Verizon announced an open CDMA network..which everyone was hoping it ment use any phone again..but in the fine print it said "Open to any pre-approved device" lol...if you are extremely lucky you may be able to add the ESN based on that pre-approved device thing...but I''d give it 0.0001% chance..as for getting on sprint...for sprint its like 100x harder...

Edit: Provisions lets you connect to the towers more efficiently...if the tower does not authenticate you though the point is moot.

Re: Evo to Verizon?

The are many things what government not allowing us to do...they call it illegal or what ever...The right thing to do is to live by your heart not the law...you just need to know that sprint can see not just esn (right or cloned) but also radio .So radio# needs to be matching phone model.I think i read some where on sprint users forum how some one gets NSA guys at his door ,just because activated cloned touch pro on dumb phone line. His lawyer asked them how they caught them, and answer from sprint was radio # not matched phone model...

Re: Evo to Verizon?

I wonder how the case went? You legally own both phones and you legally pay a service fee. You just want to use another phone on the same monthly plan. I cant see anyone sane prosecuting for that.

Isn't possession a huge part of our legal system?

It simple..ever heard of the saying "1 guy does something dumb and ruins it for everyone"?

well thats how it is...there was a major black market business for cloning ESN...the federal government and state government passed laws to prevent this from happening...they are not specialists on the field and neither do they want to investigate exactly who owns what...so simple answer was ban it all together...

So its simply some people out to make money illegally ruined it for everyone :/..they'll easily jail you/fine you..its a law.
