Re: Camera improvements?

I am no professional when it comes to the ins and outs of what makes a really nice pic, but IMO the evo camera is pretty damn good for a cell phone camera. I can't speak for any other manufacturer out there but as far as the evo compared to other previous phones I have owned, the evo is pretty darn good. Now obviously I don't expect the pics to look like my brothers pics when he has his $2000 dslr camera but hey it takes 2 secondsand its easier to whip out my phone and take quick pic than having to walk around with a camera and a phone all day.

Edit: I took this pic a few weeks ago, the plane itself wasn't moving that fast at the time but the propellers where spinning really fast and as you can see the evo shutter speed was fast enough to not make them look blurred since they were spinning so fast. But I guess it had to do with it being so sunny and bright that day, I don't know.

The sensors are way better now. The colors are better now than that shot you posted.
But agreeing with what you said, HTC has put little effort into the cameras. I would gladly sacrifice the stupid HD video for a better still camera like the iPhone

Re: Camera improvements?

So is there any apps or something that would allow a better pic?

That pic came out decent for an HTC phone. I took this one too.....not what I hoped but better than an older phone. Used vignette and played around with some settings.

Re: Camera improvements?

I will post another one in a few.

Edit: I guess there is a little compression when you upload the pics to ppcgeeks but it looks decent none the less I think.

Re: Camera improvements?

The rear camera is 8 megaPixels. That means that each one of those pixels has to be painted (turned on) with light coming though the lens. Their are two things that affect the rate in which the light is able to paint the pixels, aperature size and time the lens is opened. In a fixed aperature camera, the only variable is "lens speed" or the time the lens is open. The lens are rather large on the EVO but the pixel count is very high. For example, my daughter's low end Nikon SLR is the same pixel demsity but her lens are nearly 2 inch in diameter (50mm) (though her aperature is much smaller). She can bring in a lot more light in a shorter period of time so her shutter speed is much higher and she can take pictures of must faster moving objects. Available Ram may also be a factor, though it is hard to believe swapping is involved.

But, all in all, the Evo camera is SLOW!
