I am only for MORE POWER as long as the battery is able to last more than a few hours. With the current smartphones' batteries being termed "adequate" at best, I would like to see the technology for battery life increase before they can't last for more than a half work day.

Now, I would LOVE to see a dual or quad tablet (something that can accommodate a larger battery), but a quad core phone with the Evo's battery would last all of 45 minutes.

Not true..boils down to which manufacturing process they use for the die size..example:

Snapdragon Processor Getting Snappier - PCWorld

Is a dual core processor that uses 75% less power than current Snapdragon processor..and 28nm...EVO has a crappy 65nm process..while the Droids and Galaxy S have 45nm process...upcomming quadcore Aquila will be 32nm..

Then on top add a Super Amoled 2 which uses up 2x less power then Super Amoled..

With a phone with the above I'm sure you can do over 45min easy.

That is exactly what I am talking about... Make sure power consumption is down and battery life is up and I will be happy to see it. Thanks for the specs, I didn't know the specifics.

Yes you do need that much power. IT is not a cellphone, it is a personal computer that has voice. Think of it like your desktop or laptop pc. You buy that cheap one from best buy for $400 and when you try to play Call of Duty and then try to install it and find out it wont run because you dont have a dual core with a 3ghz cpu and 1gb of video ram and 8gb of system ram. I would love a "Cell" phone that has eight cores, 20terabytes of ram system, 44 terabytes for storage, and has a 3d display.

A second core would allow you to get more bang for less battery. Look at the Centrino as compared to the Pentium4. You can clock down when you have a second core running true threads. Before multi-cores, all they could do was throw the clock at you. Another advancement would be expanded Word width. Thing of it as the width of your information highway. 8bit is 8 lanes whereas 32bit is so much more efficient if the coders make use of it.

An analogy would be 2 people, each having to move a pile of large boulders from Point A to Point B. One guy is skinny and weak, but can run very fast. However, he can only carry one boulder at a time. The other guy is built like Andre the Giant, and he can carry a bucket full of boulders in each hand. Even moving slower, "Andre" will accomplish the task much faster.
