How do I get FROYO .6 when I already installed .3??

Actually they released the info to various outlets, Engadget etc, that they would have a download available prior to the release. Then they released the link to those who didnt want to wait for the push. Why would they have a live update link if they didnt want us to use it? I installed it prior to the news that they didnt want us to do it. How was I to know that at the last minute they would plug one more hole or change one more thing. Oh well...

Anyway will a Sprint downgrade delete all my stuff??

I find it hard to believe a working version of Froyo gets announced to major electronic news sites, get uploaded to an HTC hosted website, and they didnt know this was happening. Cant call it a leak if they themselves announced it and released it.

If they can then they should be able to fix us... bring us back to 2.1 ( probably a full system wipe ) and then upgrade back to 2.2

Even though the media mis-construed the "leak", many unsuspecting users like yourself downloaded it thinking it was the "manual method."

HTC never meant for the "manual method" to be downloading the file from their servers, to your PC, etc though. They meant to manually request the phone to check for software updates, versus them pushing the update notice to your phone.

Anywho, all on you guy... can't blame HTC nor Sprint. I saw in other posts that HTC told the .3 users to go to the Sprint store and ask for a manual downgrade. I'd try that first, otherwise, HTC will help you pick up your pieces very soon.

Going to a Sprint store is worthless, they can't downgrade you. At best they would have access to the RUU for the 1.47 version and several people have already tried that and it does not work because of the bootloader version. There isn't much of a difference between .3 and .6 so who cares if u have to wait a few days or whatever for HTC to come up with something. I knew when I installed .3 that this could happen, no big deal. Now if there had been a ton of improvements between versions then I could see why people care.

So you are implying that the news sites were told days in advance that there would be a "leak". Or are you saying they miscontrued the test download as an actual release. The "leak" as you call it was the download for the websites to test the OS, as it was a near final version. Im shocked that they did not account for users being able to upgrade past this version.

So what you are saying is, they accidentally informed websites days in advance that there would be a link to download FROYO hosted on their website days before the release. News sites then informed us that we would have a manual method days in advance of the actual "push". Then after the link went live ( and I guess that they realized they had to tweak one more thing, or finished something early ) they decide to announce that it is not a final version.

If the release was not intended, why were all major sites aware that there would be a manual download prior to the link even going live? Engadget reported days before the link went live ( 1 or 2 days ) that there would be a manual download option as per HTC. Sounds like HTC goofed, not the news sites.

I agree. HTC should have pulled the link. It's not like it wasn't all over the web and they knew what would happen.
