Ok guys, I too was having this issue, and it has nothing to do with update.zip file. I even tried to redownload thinking the file was corrupt.

It seems that with this update, you must first flash to v1.47. I had not done this because I just received a replacement and I knew the update would block the screen capture apps and I didn't want to root. All you need to do is go to Setting->System udates->HTC software updates and click check now. It might take a few tries before it finds the update (took me three tries). It will then ask if you want to download v1.47 blah blah blah. Once you've flashed this version, you can now install froyo from sd card.

Re: android 2.2!!

Fixed it..........Found this on another forum....here ya go.............

"Figured out the issue. Just name the file " update " on your computer, when transferring to the SD card it will change the name to update.zip

When naming it update.zip on the computer, it was getting transferred as update.zip.zip"

facepalm...

you guys should goto your folder options in windows and set it to not hide extensions for known file types...

Transferring something to your card isn't adding .zip to it.... it's already .zip but Windows isn't letting you see the file extension.

I wonder sometimes guys..

Glad you got it sorted anyways, but, really, Windows 101.

Yea, most computers are defaulted to hide "known extensions" (EX: .jpeg .exe .zip, etc) If you rename the file to update.zip you actually renamed it update.zip.zip

Everything good now?

that was the first thing i looked at, made sure that the file is named correctly on the card. i've even tried flashing it like anyother rom with the original name in place. still no dice. this update hates me.

Re: android 2.2!!

If your PRI was pushed back from 1.40 to 1.34 from rooting, does this bring it back up, or even to a higher PRI?
