Re: Htc froyo updates!

Agreed Radar.

Some of the members make it sound like Sprint/HTC 2.2 ROM may be locked forever and un-rootable.

Sprint will soon start selling Evos with 2.2 preinstalled. Does that mean future Evo purchasers are screwed and will never be able to root their phone?

I doubt it.

We're saying patience is a virtue. If we all waited all this time already, whats another week if it means giving you the freedom of keeping your root and testing out different roms?

Plus.........most of the 2.2 roms I have tried had something severely wrong with them........things like my phone freezing or the apps I have on my memory card not working.........or even the infamous random memory card formatting! At least with this one we know we're getting something that works right out the box...................and 2.2 is like........80 times faster than 2.1.........its like a custom rom itself.....I mean......better EVERYTHING!

Last but not least...........if they can make a rooted stock 2.2 rom for the evo than wouldn't that mean they already found how to hack the update?!?!?!?!

Because when the stock rooted 2.1 roms for the evo came out the evo was already rooted!

Seems to me like if you get the update than reroot your phone and put a custom 2.2 rom on the phone.......that you're putting the same thing right back on the phone.......because I really don't see a difference in the stock and custom 2.1 roms other than the hotspot app.........I still can't tether with usb and ATK works A LOT BETTER on the stock roms!

Just my $10 though.........nothing personal.......I'll be the Guinea Pig if you guys want me to..............I mean.......I was gonna get the update anyway so...................
Lest we forget most (if not all) cooked ROMs don't have 4G.

I'll be sure to keep an eye out for you fellers in the rooting threads for your "Help! I accepted the OTA and now I cant root"
j/k (not really)

Root will be lost.

Maybe a day, a week, maybe forever, who knows? Not me. But I can wait a day or three and get a fully functional Froyo ROM and still have root.

Radar-if your Froyo ROMs were severely flawed then you didnt find a good one.
The reason issues are present in them is because the developer only had Beta releases to work with. They could only do so much with what they were given.
Once official Froyo is released they will be able to work with the real deal. Just because the official update will lose root doesnt mean the brainiacs cant pick it apart and create a rootable, fully functional version.
So if you're willing take the update the second it drops more power to ya ENJOY!
