Cyanogen Roms = Froyo -Mostly Everything Working!!!

I think it is from apps2sd. I had the same issue with a few things...but when I changed to internal storage only they disappeared.

The more I play with this ROM the more I think it sucks. Highly over rated. You have to install the google apps otherwise you get no market or email.

The messaging that comes with the google apps zip that you need to install? Totally off wack, tells you to call different numbers.

No visual voice mail. The ones you download off of XDA do not work (I tried 4 different versions).

BATTERY HOG! The battery lasts like 4 hours. On Fresh, it's more then double.

I think I am going to stay rooted and go back to a Sprint factory ROM just to get free WiFi Tethering.

I don't see how you can say it sucks. You have to install the Google apps because its illegal to redistribute them in roms. Google specifically asked Cyanogen to not include them in the rom....so you have to flash 1 more thing that takes about 1 minute? Big deal.

Visual Voicemail works just fine.

Battery certainly lasts for more than 4 hours. Are you checking email every 15 minutes or have any other apps that are making your phone not sleep?

The messaging... must be your first experience with an AOSP rom? The messaging app in the stock rom is HTC's messaging, which is part of Sense.

CM6 is one of the best, if not the best rom out there. Wait a little and watch all the chefs will be using CM6 as a base for their roms.

Everyone has their opinion and I do respect yours, but to say it sucks is a little off.

If you need help getting some of your dislikes corrected, just ask. We all are here and most of us are willing to help.

This WIP is better than most final builds. Most other roms are overlooked or lightened up a bit. This is totally reprogrammed. I'll give it another shot when its further along

Where can I get Visual Voice Mail?
Where can I get messaging? I can just go with handcent, right?

Also I am running into problems with ROM manager. I try to install clockworks mod and it says that there is a problem or something. Yes I clicked Superuser thingy. Then it asked to reboot and I did. Then when I try to do anything with Rom Manager, it will not let me due to:

I click flash clockworkmod recovery.
I confirm it's an HTC EVO.
Then I get "An error occured while flashing your recovery"

Messaging... you can use the native Froyo one, or yes go with Handcent or ChompSMS is another good one.

As far as Clockwork, I don't use that. I use Amon RA for my Recovery. Someone else who uses Clockwork will have to chime in on that one.

What method of rooting did you use? I'm assuming you are full rooted?

Does anyone know where I can file the people application that 2.1 has? I like being able to have hi-res photos for people I call and call me but with the one in Froyo you can't store contacts on the phone, only Gmail and Facebook it looks like.

Maybe I don't understand the question but I add photos to my contacts in the regular AOSP contacts app.

+1 I like having the large panel for my favorites (or even the scrolling people widget for LauncherPro Plus). Also, I would like to have the HTC Calendar or something like it. I have the Agenda Widget, but also like the full month view.
