not sure either, but i've seen this for radio shack and best buy customers alike on multiple forums. pretty disappointing to hear actually. what's worse is he's a former iphone user who just switched from att. You would think they'd take care of new customers without making them jump through hoops. I'm pretty sure he's thinking of just sticking with iphone/att if it doesn't get resolved soon.

I haven't heard of anyone getting their ota update bricked evo unbricked by going to a sprint repair store... have you??? If so, please point me to a thread or post about it, it would help a lot.

Not sure if they're doing anything about it other than exchanging for another one though.

yup i walked into the best buy store today with the screen lifting in the bottom left corner and they gave me no issues with getting a raincheck for when they come back into stock... was in and out of the store within 5 minutes and they gave me no issues what-so-ever. as said above it is a legal issue and they HAVE to replace it so go before the 5th but try to make it asap so your not running at the last second. you could also talk to a manager and see what they say as well over at best buy.

Definitely go to a repair center, I work in one and I'd either fix it or get a replacement for you.

Re: Best Buy bought EVO bricked by OTA update, where to return? Sprint/BestBuy won't

Don't take it to a repair store!! Only do that if you're past 30 days or you don't care if you get a refurb. Oh and upper level corporate gives repair centers some serious sh*t for replacing the evo within 30 days, TRUST ME, WE GOT IT LOL

lol you guys are no help on this matter. basically the same answers he got from both best buy and sprint, which is a bunch of finger pointing. oh well, guess he's just going to have to throw a fit in one of the stores...
thanks anyway!

I was at Sprint Corp store after OTA and Rep was talking to customer about his EVO. Customer was handing his phone back and said it was fixed after freezing, He was not happy he wanted a new phone. Was told if phone had more problems and could not be fixed he would get new phone.

Why would the guy want a new phone if they unbricked his. Anyway HTC is the one who treated to take your phone to a repair center if it bricked.
