Re: [GUIDE] Fix your light leaking EVO

Yeah and xbox new about all its defects and thats why you gotta pay to play on there servers duh...

Idiot the $10 is because Sprint know how cheap they are and they want to bump up there prices a little but not so much that it pisses everyone off. Basicly you have a choice right now. In the futur probably a year or two you wont have a choice every new phone will have a $10 add on. You got to understand buisness and how it works.

Also I have a bit of screen seperation and light showing through. I have no intention on taking it back but that has a lot to do with the fact that customizing takes time and because I dont have it backed up yet I cant just load all my settings into a new phone and call it a day. So setting up a new phone takes time for me, so screw all that ill just keep this one until it starts to seperate and look broken lol.

I love HTC phones but man there build always seems to end up feeling cheap or showing its cheap side. There cameras are never up to par with other camera phones in the same class. Really not sure why I still continue to buy HTC phones. Other then the screen light leak and the lift this phone is actually built pretty nice. I wish it had a stronger glass though. I mean with all the broken iPhones out there you would think HTC would have thought hey. Lets make this screen tough. I mean yeah you should be tossing your phone around but the bottom line is these thin phones can sometimes be accidently droped.

Lastly my Lenovo T61 laptop doesnt have any screen leaks and neither should my phone. Heck my alarm clock doesnt leak light and neither does my TV. These sorts of mistakes are unexceptable and its not anyones fault if they deside to take it back every week because they keep getting rigged phones. Its HTC's fault and Sprints fault for letting this pass there quality test. Also I bet Sprint just sends the phone into HTC and they send them a replacement. The only people loosing money here would be HTC.

Lastly I dont use an iPhone but I love the fact that the new iPhone 4 is gonna have a 20x stronger glass and a 5x stronger steel band. Seriously I think they thought hey alot of broken iPhones pissed people off, what can we do to prevent this from happening. WHY DIDNT HTC DO THIS GOD DA MN IT! Still like my EVO even though the camera and video playback/video record and build quality isnt what it should be, the rest of the phone seems to be stunning lol. Man HTC allways seems to make me wish they did something diffrent or make me feel like I want something more. I wonder if iPhone users get this feeling the new 4 seems like its all that and then some but really nobody will know until the users find the flaws just like with the evo.

OP nice write up you have been thanked. I bet this somewhat counters the screen lift as well considering its going to bond to the glass and plastic.

No, I am saying that it just so happens that this is where we are seeing the $10 premium start. I am saying it started here because they figured they could get us all to buy off on this "awesomeness" concept... but really it is just their way of recouping their losses with all the time their customer care reps have to spend dealing with idiots that complain about stuff that really warrants NO complaint. Again, real issue like REAL screen separation are understandable. But there are people that will cry all day long from things that have NO affect on functionality or appearance. In other words, a lot of problems are in people's heads! It is those people that I am thanking for this $10 premium.

EVERY ONE NEEDS TO RETURN PHONES WITH THIS ISSUE. Don't help HTC slack on their QC. It is not our job to complete their freaking job! I wouldn't be surprised if the lack of adhesive tape also causes the phone's screen to crack like the one guy who dropped it 3 feet on carpet. No tape no padding equal cracked glass. PLEASE make HTC and sprint address this issue and not help HTC produce phones that shouldn't have passed QC. We all want something better than the I-phone but we all know we lost on build quality!
I agree, I talked to a couple sprint reps trying to find out what they are doing about the lifting issue (it seems like many people have the issue) and the reps all told me that they were not yet aware of that issue but were willing to look into it more for me. I dont have the issue as of yet but for those of you who do its best to make it known to manufacturer and distributer.

Re: [GUIDE] Fix your light leaking EVO

I had the opportunity to see 4 brand new EVO's and power them all on and check them out in low light and so far every single one had some sort of light leak. The versions were both 002 and 003's. Some were far worse than others but they all had some.

I am personally completely satisfied with my fix which has proven to work perfectly since the day before I created this thread. It is not meant to stray people from returning a phone which is defective but is to give people an alternative option to fix something themselves if they want to or cannot return their phone for various reasons.

Whether Sprint & HTC decide to fix the issue, at least you know you can address the issue yourself if you have to.

Light from the bottom

So in the dark, light comes out of the bottom of the screen from the four buttons.. Is this the light leaking issue or whatever? What can I do about it?

Also, I have the screen sensitivity issue, and my phone has random reboots..

Re: Light from the bottom

Yeah thats it. Light is coming threw between the glass and the plastic shell. I can confirm the new models dont have this issue. Thanks to sprint I had to swap my phone because they wouldnt give me my money lol so I had to go throuhg a loop hole to get it and that in turn caused me to have to get another phone and send the first phone back.

Anyway I got a new model and the screen isnt lifting and the light isnt coming threw.
