I agree 100% that a new phone should have zero issues however they most likely will not take the phone back for a light leak since it is cosmetic. Also, with the reports of people with 002 and 003 hardware both reporting the problems it is really a gamble on whether or not getting a replacement will not have the same exact issue. I had a small amount of light passing through but no screen lifting so to me this seemed like an easy fix.

This also serves a guide for people who got full boated for the phone or bought one on ebay and have to either pay out for a new one or fix it themselves.

Re: [GUIDE] Fix your light leaking EVO

Good write up. Correct me if I am wrong though, your guide is basically to just block the light leak, not to fix the actual seperation?? I know it is annoying to see the light but if it doesnt correct the gap, then it will just continue to seperate.

another fix is to use a hair drier and hold it for 2 minutes until it cools. it's supposed to fix the separation.

That could address the screen lifting however if there is not enough adhesive where the screen is coming off then heating it up will not do any good.

Re: [GUIDE] Fix your light leaking EVO

Very good write up but I hope NO ONE DOES THIS.
EVERY ONE NEEDS TO RETURN PHONES WITH THIS ISSUE. Don't help HTC slack on their QC. It is not our job to complete their freaking job! I wouldn't be surprised if the lack of adhesive tape also causes the phone's screen to crack like the one guy who dropped it 3 feet on carpet. No tape no padding equal cracked glass. PLEASE make HTC and sprint address this issue and not help HTC produce phones that shouldn't have passed QC. We all want something better than the I-phone but we all know we lost on build quality!

Re: [GUIDE] Fix your light leaking EVO

1. Walk into Sprint store.
2. Put name in and wait while employees play with their bluetooths.
3. When name is called, pass phone to employee and say "its brand new, I need a new one because its defective."
4. Stick to your guns and use the words "no", "total equipment protection", and "$7 a month" a lot.
5. Receive new phone.
6. Repeat steps if necessary.

Good write up, but I'm just not a fan of doing things sprint will do for me. Considerate a service charge for the 4g charge that we don't get to use.

Re: [GUIDE] Fix your light leaking EVO

I like your write up as well but in my past experience, they will not assist you in the store, you will get so frustrated that thoughts of going out and buying a gun and popping a cap in their a$$ will cross your mind multiple times and you will walk out with nothing and still have to call Assurion.

DISCLAIMER: All irrational decisions herein outlined in the above description are purely fictional and should not be acted upon. If you feel such need to follow out your deep thoughts and anger, take a deep breath and rub your earlobes.
