Re: I finally got my evo to sleep.

Up time: 4:31:54
Awake time: 4:25:50

Fook me, maybe that's what's been killing my battery over the past few days. Any chance it's also what's causing the random resets? Maybe the phone is trying to sleep and is crashing and restarting?

Hard reset seem to be working as a fix or no? I'm tempted to just root if I have to hard reset anyway...

Since any changes you might have made are saved to the SD card I would clear the card first. First you would want to back everything on your computer. Once the card is clean (nothing on it) then take note of your up time and awake time. Turn the display off (click power button) and leave it of for about five minutes. then turn the display back on and see if the up time and awake time ratio is any better.

I think we all get that facebook ring tone, I have it too but my phone sleeps so that should not be the problem. Have you gone in to applications\talk\settings and disabled auto login and then logged out yet? That seems to be always trying to do something even though I never used it. Also, go in to settings\applications\running services\ and stop the talk app. You will have to stop the service everytime you reboot because it will automatically start every time you reboot. Hope that helps.

Thanks! Apparently my phone has a bottle of sleeping pills hidden somewhere...it sleeps - deeply!

Thanks for the reply. I found that it was not the Facebook folder. After deleting the folder and placing everything else back on the SD card the process for media (under the *#*#4636#*#*) went back up to 100% in process. So I deleted the thumb nail file, My videos (take with my TP2), and my ebooks that I could not use on the EVO. After that the Process labeled as media went down to nothing (over time) and my phone would go to sleep when I turned of the display. Now I am happy, pulled the phone off the charger at 6 this morning and still have 805 battery left.

That's really wierd, I have videos (no ebooks) and I have left my thumb nail file and I have never had a problem with my media process. I have media on this thing from like 4 or 5 phones ago, I just keep copying my sd card over from one phone to the next. Strange. I'm glad it's better for you now.

I have finally come to the conclusion that I just use my phone way too much, that's probably all that is wrong with my battery. I am going to probably buy the seido 3500 extended battery and call it a day.

Re: I finally got my evo to sleep.

i use an app called "gentle alarm" which has a setting for preventing Deep Sleep. disabling this feature allowed my device to sleep again. not sure if you guys run the same alarm app, but its something to look for. while you are thinkin about the issue, think about what apps you having running constantly that may have a similar feature.
