I finally got my evo to sleep.

So my phone wasnt ever sleeping and i did everyhting possible to try and fix it. I removed all kinds of apps and did all the tweaks. It slept when i first got it but wouldnt anymore. I tried thinking back to the day it started. I downloaded some stupid craigslist app and then removed it because it sucked. well today i was fed up and hard reset, and now my phone sleeps. the only thing i could think is that some part of that app was left and stoping the phone from sleeping. just thought i would let you guys know in case someone else is having a problem like i did.

Re: I finally got my evo to sleep.

I have been having the same issue, would have hard reset by now but I'm holding out for a few days until the 2.2 port they are working on over at xda gets more stable. They almost have a completely working port, I'm just waiting for them to get the cameras fixed.

Re: I finally got my evo to sleep.

I still can not get mine to sleep. Here is what I have done. First hard reset. Then set up gmail, yahoo, and POP work email accounts, then went to wireless network and unchecked mobile network, finally I turned off all general sync settings so that nothing syncs. Now when I go to settings and about phone, Battery, it shows Up time and Awake time the same. So it go to the phone and type *#*#4636#*#* and click on battery history. It shows Running at 100% and when I change "Other Usage" to "Partial wake usage" it shows media running the same amount of time as up time/ awake time. So then I go to settings/applications/Running services and the only thing running under Media is android.process.media. I kill the process and nothing changes. Any thoughts as to what is going on? Could I have somthing on my SD card that is making the media portion of the phone not sleep?

Re: I finally got my evo to sleep.

I found that mine didn't sleep after the update, hard reset was the only thing that fixed it. Neuteboomt, if you updated after your first hard reset, I'd suggest doing it again.

Thanks ericmcintire! But I am about to hard reset for a third time since the OTA update. I think I am going to clear the SD card also.

Re: I finally got my evo to sleep.

Update. When backing up my music and files off of my SD card I noticed a folder called media that had a ring tone from facebook (duaghter used my phone). This maybe was the coulprit for the meda process that would not sleep. After I cleared the SD card and then hard reset my phone now sleeps! No processes are running at a 100%!!

Re: I finally got my evo to sleep.

Last update. After placing all my media files and and word/excel files on the SD card it would not go back to sleep again. So I reformated the card again and only pulled over pics, music, and word/excell filles. I did not pull over my old videos taken on my TP2 and my ebooks. Now the phone seems to go to sleep when I turn the display off.

Sorry Sk8boardd did not mean to take over your thread. Thanks for starting it.

How do you know if your phone is sleeping or not?

Re: I finally got my evo to sleep.

check your battery info, if "up time" and "awake time" are the same, you're phone is an insomniac.
