Re: Does your EVO "sleep"? How do I put it in sleep mode?

if you installed the ota update without hard resetting, i've seen that cause some wonky issues.

Re: Does your EVO "sleep"? How do I put it in sleep mode?

I'm in same boat everybody else is in. The after a flash doesn't matter which rom doesn't matter which kernel. I've tried OMJ,FRESH,BAKEDSNAKS. I've tried king and netarchy. I have paid for the donate titanium backup I've tried restoring apps with titanium backup I've tired restoring apps one at a time it doesn't seem to make a difference seems to me within a day or two I start having the issue where my phones uptime and awake or exactly the same. My battery last for around 3-4 hours general usage checking email writing a few text mesages and I use a blueant q2 headset and bluetooth is always on. I always leave my phone plugged in if not my phone dies within hours. Lucky for me I have 2 batteries in my pocket all the time so I always have an operational phone. I usually go through 2 batteries a day depending on how many jobs I have and if I remeber to bring my charger with me to my customers house. I for the life of me can't figure this out. I believe the problem has got to be with an app that stays running. In spart parts it says my phones idle time is 41% my phone standby is usually 18-22% and I mail 1% and Android system not sure how much percent it is using. But thats my story I'm researching the juice defender that everybody keeps talking about. I installed the free one and everything worked perfect through the morning. Afternoon it was a different story I believe it has to have something with the settings I choosed because for some reason my phone would not connect with sprint towers it acted as if my phone was roaming all the time. I would get the message welcome to verizon were sorry but your phone could not be authenticated at this time if you continue having this problem press ##8899 or contact a verizon customer service rep. I restarted my phone several times after that and I got another message that says welcome to verizon your call is being transfered to an operator that will allow you to place the call you will need a credit card a predpaid card or you can make the call collect. So I started removing things I recently installed which was the juice defender I uninstalled it rebooted and did not have a single issue after that. Battery life has started to suck again but I would rather replace batteries then lose money just wanted to put in my 2cents. I think we should create another topic about this situation find out what run everybody that is having a problem is using and also what apps everybody has installed and try to figure out if some app is keeping the phone awake spare parts didn't really help me.

Re: Does your EVO "sleep"? How do I put it in sleep mode?

My evo is just a few days old. It came with 2.2. After a day or so, i installed an app or something but the uptime/sleep time bug hit me. I uninstalled every single app and even installed ATK just to kill everything and it still would not sleep. Now I didn't pull the battery, but I decided to just go ahead and root.

Since then I've been running fresh 3.2 and haven't had the issue. I've installed just about the same apps as I did before. So, I don't know what the deal is, but it is a pain in the Azz. I think it's def a bug of some kind.

Re: Does your EVO "sleep"? How do I put it in sleep mode?

Get rid of that ATF. Android is not WiMo!! An app in memory does not cause significant drain unless it is doing something like polling or pushing. But loading and app and mapping it does use resources.

The real culprit is Sprint/HTC with their unGodly crap-a-ware. ESPN, Nascar, SprintTV!!! Any non-OS dependent app should be uninstallable, if not simply included as optional installs at initialization. We ALL need to hound them and let them know we are not happy!! Maybe in the next OTA or future phones, they will cut the BS. Buy they need to hear from the unwashed masses!!

Oh yeah, I am fully rooted with Froyo 2.2 and stock Rom and me and the phone sleep fine.

Sprint's software has absolutely nothing to do with this discussion.

Pre-loaded(unremovalable) apps that continually restart have nothing to do with battery life?

No. No they don't. Are you familiar with the process Android uses to allocate cpu? Obviously I'm asking that to prove the point that you don't. They are "running" as cached snapshots so that, should you choose to use them, they will start up faster. They don't use any data until you initiate them. They don't use any cpu because they are cached. They don't cuse wake locks, so they don't belong in this thread. Next idea.
