Well, how would I go about rooting it? I didn't want to go that drastic if I didn't have to, but I'm starting to think its either that or a hard reset...

this happened to me too. i think it might be one of the apps that you downloaded because a hard reset did not help me

Re: Does your EVO "sleep"? How do I put it in sleep mode?

This was happenin to me. Go under applications and running services....i stop google talk. Also fring was killing me and I never opened it, just downloaded but it apparently constantly runs. Took off all active syncs....changed sprint update too sync once a month...think that's longest I could set. Now my times vary by a few hours time.

Well the only thing I haven't tried on that list is to change the sprint update sync, I just reset it, and I'm gonna turn the phone off to charge it tonight, so I guess we'll see

Still not sleeping, thinking about rooting, but will it for sure fix the problem? I don't want to risk bricking my phone for nothing

Re: Does your EVO "sleep"? How do I put it in sleep mode?

I'm having this same issue. I've tried multiple ROMs both 2.1 and 2.2 and keep seeing this. I'll get everything installed and working nicely and the phone will be sleeping properly. Then, after a day or two suddenly the phone refuses to sleep (100% Running time in Spare Parts but no significant Partial Wake Locks reported). I've tried uninstalling all my apps and restarting and the problem persists. It seems once the no sleep bug has started I can't get rid of it without a hard reset. It's getting to the point where I may have to install a ROM from scratch and just wait 2 days between installing each app to make sure the problem doesn't arise. Can anyone recommend any tools or options to trouble shoot this?

I use juice defender and for some reason after I run it and set it up it makes the sleep problem go away.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.2; en-us; Sprint APA9292KT Build/FRF91) AppleWebKit/533.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/533.1)

I had this issue after the 2.2 upgrade. Taking the battery out while the phone was on solved it. Not sure why, but it might be worth a shot. Note that simply turning the phone off and on did not fix it. Only pulling the battery with the phone on.
