Re: Try this screen test with your EVO and report back
It hasn't happened yet on my Evo and it may or may not be a bug. If it is indeed as your guys describe, it just may be something inherent to the design of the capacitive screen. Unlike resistive screens that create their own loop, these screens use you finger as a conductive device to create a loop. If the your finger is too dry, you may not have enough conductive surface area to complete the circuit unless you press hard enough to flatten your finger tip. When you are laying it on a "non-conductive surface," you are actually just laying it on a slicker surface so you aren't pressing as hard on the screen because the phone would just slip around if you did. Less finger surface area touches the screen, the circuit doesn't complete, the screen doesn't respond. Next time this happens, try pressing slightly firmer on the screen or lick/wet your finger tip (for testing only; not recommended for normal use) to see if it solves it.

Re: Try this screen test with your EVO and report back
I'm going to mention this ... and whether it has anything to do with this or not, I don't know. My screen started out by being odd or laggy when I was trying to unlock. Picking it up, I don't think, was about a "connection" as much as it was about giving it time to catch up. Over the next day or so, it was slow/laggy moving through home screens and typing with swype got increasingly more difficult. The buttons weren't as responsive and everything about the screen seemed Jumpy."
Soft resets and pulling the battery didn't change a thing. I read in a different thread about pulling the battery and then holding the power button down for 10 seconds without the battery in. This put my screen back to the way it was on day one. I'm not saying it will fix the issues you may be having, but if it is just placebo effect, I'm fine with that. If I have screen issues again, this will be the first thing I try.

Re: Try this screen test with your EVO and report back
I don't have this issue, but I tried it just now to test and had a little trouble getting the notification bar down if I do it FAST. But then I put it in my hand and had the same problem. Maybe you're doing it too fast?
I've tested this on a table and on a bed and it never misses my keypresses. |

Re: Try this screen test with your EVO and report back
I've seen those videos and done all the tests with my Evo and haven't had any of those issues.
