Re: Anyone NOT getting insurance for their new Evo?
This is going to be an interesting read.....I can understand that some will probably find ways to cut costs thanks to the cool fee, buuuut I'm keeping my TEP.
I'd hate for my EVO to end up being a case of "that one day I didn't have TEP"....just like the damn crack in my Zune was "the one time I took it out of the case"....I'm still a little hurt by that. Anyway, back on subject, I'm looking forward to seeing the responses

Re: Anyone NOT getting insurance for their new Evo?
I payed cash for my Evo without contract. I am very good with my phones and I have never broke one yet. So if I happen to break one anytime soon after years of monthly fees and the $100 copay I would have spent the $450 plus more.
So no to the insurance for me.

Re: Anyone NOT getting insurance for their new Evo?
I got to have insurance for sure. Like i always say it's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. It's like health insurance, because you ain't never been sick don't mean that you shouldnt have health insurance.

Re: Anyone NOT getting insurance for their new Evo?
Disagree. I could get sick without insurance and it could end up costing me hundreds of thousands of dollars a new Evo will cost me $450. For all the phones I have owned and never broke I could have bought 3 Evo's in the monthly fee's alone.

Re: Anyone NOT getting insurance for their new Evo?
I have TEP, would not even think of not having it with a phone this expensive.
As an added benefit think of it as an "upgrade" policy. The EVO is the first phone I have purchased in over 6 years, but I always have had the latest smart phone. I purchased a PPC 6700, it broke and was replaced with a PPC 6800, again broke and was replaced with a Touch Pro, that also broke and was replaced with a Touch Pro 2. That may be the list but I think there is one missing somewhere. None of these were made up problems, the phones legitimately had problems and Sprint was more than happy to replace them (some more than once). I am sure I am way ahead of what I paid vs. all of the phones they have given me. Also, I have never paid a co-pay. Take it to a service center and the replace or repair it with no co-pay. |

Re: Anyone NOT getting insurance for their new Evo?
A little off topic ... I've been debating on whether or not I should keep this Best Buy insurance for $9.99/mo or switch to Sprints insurance for $7.99/mo. I think if the phone breaks, BB gives you a brand new one ... while Sprint will probably only give you a refurbished one. The plus side with the Sprint plan, is that they cover lost or stolen phones. The BB plan doesn't. Anyone have any suggestions? I didn't want to create a whole new thread for this question.

Re: Anyone NOT getting insurance for their new Evo?
Obviously getting sick will cost a lot more but its the principle of what I said. Maybe you can afford 450 at the drop of a dime but other people cant do that and could easily afford an extra 7 per month.
