Thanks again. I love the benefits of rooting but I just don't understand much of the process.
I recommended a couple Your backups are stored on your SD. So whether it comes with the ROM or you install it from the Market you will be able to restore everything when you run TiBackup.*think* custom ROMs can be set up so you dont get the notification. One thing that may help also is to go to
Menu>Settings>System Updates>HTC Software update>then uncheck Scheduled check. But as I hinted at in my earlier post if you do ever get prompted, dont accept.

Re: [TUTORIALS] EVO Full Root|OTA Root|Nand Backup/Restore|Flashing|for n00b's + vide

Hi, this is my first time posting, and well since im a noob, im having a problem when i want to update my phone. The version i had was v1.3 but never really was interested in upgrading but now i see that there is a better version, so i was trying to upgrade and i see that i need to "fully root the phone" so what i did was to format the SD card since i only had garbage on it then i downloaded the 4 thing you guys asked to download in the first page of Evo full , and started on "Section 2 Version 2" since i already had the first part, I renamed the two zip files, and everything was going well, until i got to part "2H" it doesnt asked me if i want to upgrade, it says "Main Version is older! Update Fail"

What did i do wrong? Please help thanks.

Like I said over in OMJ's thread that error usually means you used the wrong file. Which one are you trying to use? You need to use the one that was originally named eng-PC36IMG (take off the eng when you put it on your card)

Re: Help: How to root phone from phone

If your looking for a apk that's gonna root your evo that's not gonna happen.i suggest you look into simple root, than just flash the stock ota rom.

Sent from my Evo using tapatalk.

Re: Help: How to root phone from phone

search for unrevoked 3 and that should help you. Or use simple root as suggested above. The latest unrevoked is not a simple .apk anymore. there is a short process but it does work with ota 1.47 and it does allow wireless tether to work. If you can't find it here read this entire thread

What software version do you have? Menu/settings/about phone/software info

You didnt get any errors in 2D or 2E? If the mtd-eng file doesnt get applied correctly that could give that error as well.

EDIT: What is the size of the PC36 file?
