Re: EVO Full Root No PC or ADB|Recovery|Nand Backup/Restore|Flashing| for n00b's + Vi

yeah, I wiped both. I restored with the nand backup I made originally, and it works fine. I imagine the phone is still rooted with NAND access since I can goto recovery without the pc. Also, if I use recovery with pc I get a # in the shell. I have no super user option and the clockwork rom manager won't install bc it gets an error "while trying to run privileged commands"

I have never had a problem flashing any rom. Every time I think there is a problem, I retrace my steps and find that I made a mistake somewhere.

At this point I'd like to just start over, but I can't get the original version to flash back on the phone, won't load to bootloader, and when I manually load to bootloader the pc won't recgonize the phone. Any ideas? [-o<
If you're on the home screen, I would try flashing the stock sprint and starting over.
If you're trying to connect w/ the PC, make sure you followed the Before you start section in post 1.

I have no idea when, but now I'm about to get on my soapbox...

I was in Vegas last weekend. IMHO - 4G has a long way to go. If I got a signal, it was weak at best. Every time it switched from 4G to 3G, whatever I was doing would hang for a while before it could figure out what was happening.

I checked it all over town, outside not in buildings. From my balcony I had a clear view from the South end of Vegas by Mandalay Bay all the way to the Stratosphere. Unobstructed views. And signal was still lousy. If I went inside to the bedroom, signal was gone. A couple of times I had 3bars on 4G and it still didn't stay connected long enough to do a speedtest. Speedtest on 4G got up to 2.5mb, but it normally timed out. Speedtest on 3G was always 1.2mb and up and very stable.

I was trying to watch the Worldcup matches a couple of times on the phone. I just turned off 4G so I could actually watch more than 10sec spurts. I love this phone, and I'm very happy w/ it, but after experiencing "4G" in what is supposed to be a good coverage area, I'm glad I didn't buy the phone just for that feature.

If that's 4G, Sprint can keep it. It was more frustrating than anything. Plus it drains the battery like I was trying to jump start a car.

For some reason I forgot I had to go into the fastboot to flash the stock sprint rom back on when loading it myself. It's all up and working now, thanks for all the help guys!

Hey Bro-been wanting to checkout the new method but was a bit scarred Ya know, if it aint broke dont fix it.
After seeing how many times you've run the process I gave it a go.

Went back to stock and then followed the new steps and it went smooth as glass! No problems at all! Awesome!! Thanks.

Thanks too for the 4G assessment. Not surprised there'd be some hiccups along the way as Sprint rolls it out but your experience sounds terrible.
I'll let ya know what I see when Tampa goes online soon (I hope).

I can't root after installing the new update (June 28th). When I go to the bootloader screen, say's "SD Checking... Loading...[PC36DIAG.zip] No Image... then it says "Main Version is older!" Update Fail!

Do the files on this thread need to be updated for this to work now?

You did the OTA?
Nothing in this thread or forum will help you now.
Unless toastcfh decides to figure out how to root after this OTA, for now there isn't a way that I know of.
Only thing you might try is flashing the 1st official Sprint Version. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=685835

NOTE to everyone else:
When an OTA comes out, don't do it!!!
Wait a while until the dev's over at XDA or somewhere fix it for us.
Today's OTA was fixed and rooted within hours of being released.
Here's the thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=712695
Using the rooted version would not break or mess up anything.
