AFAIK, you cannot currently do this. Aps2sd is in Android 2.2.

Confirmed that you need full root to access recovery via Rom manager without pc with new version.

Had to do it on my work pc, but now I'm full root! thanks guys!

No, I mean once I unplug it from the cable, the indicator still shows it as charging and the led light is on. But it's not plugged in at all. I'm trying to figure out why it does this after I unlock nand. It asks me what I want the first time I plug it in, but once I unplug it it keeps showing its charging. I know it's not charging wirelessly.

I've got 0002. Do you think that will make a difference? By the way, I've been running thru and randomly thanking your posts because you've helped me quite a bit in retaining some of my sanity.

Re: EVO Full Root|Recovery|Nand Backup/Restore|Flashing for n00b's Instructions & Vid

@biofall-to determine if you are fully rooted power off your phone. Do not have the usb connected to your PC. Hold Vol Down while you power on. At that menu select Recovery. If you boot into Recovery then you are fully rooted. If it hangs at the screen with the red triangle then something went wrong.
Full root gives total access to the OS.
For your needs it will allow you to use apps and flash ROMs that take advantage of full root access.

That is not 100% correct. While it is a feature of Froyo, full root access is needed for aps2SD to work on 2.1
It's included in a few custom ROMs. I'm still trying to get it going on OMJs latest.

Look at my response above to biofall.

Same version I have. I was just taking a stab at randomness.

You mentioned you thought it was the recovery.img that did it.
If you install Rom Manager, you can flash their Recovery screen.
It's the top choice when you open the app.
That will change your recovery screen, but I don't think it completely replaces the amon-ra-recovery.img that you loaded but it might be enough to fix your problem.

And thanks

Re: EVO Full Root|Recovery|Nand Backup/Restore|Flashing for n00b's Instructions & Vid

@blockhead, find a post of mine with my Sig. There's a link to xda to fix SD & USB issues. This is just a guess but there might be some info there. That thread is partly about the usb not charging at all which is not your issue but its worth a shot.
fwiw-for me, Google did not turn up anything on "htc evo charge light staying on" which could mean its isolated to your phone.
Good luck.

I tried a different recovery.img and it did the same thing. SimpleRoot uses the clockwork recovery and it did it then. I feel like mailing you my phone just so you can see that its doing it. Or maybe I'm crazy. I followed your steps and I followed the video numerous times.
