Re: battery = horrible less than 4 hours standby

Turn off the 4g!. Seriously if you're not using it why would you let it rape your battery. Especially with that weak 1 bar signal, its working hard for nothin

Re: battery = horrible less than 4 hours standby

Boo Boo, read my post linked below. Some setting is eating your battery. PM me, I'll let you call me and we'll figure it out. Clearly, after seeing how I got 8 hours while uploading 100 MB, and downloading 80 MB, something is wrong.

With 4g on all the time you Are always going to have terrible battery life. Invest in some batteries and a station that let's you charge multiple batteries at once and call it a day lol.

Boo Boo may not realize that if you can stream Netflix movies to your TV on 3G using the HotSpot, that we were all wrong about the potential of 3G. Our previous phone's processors, like on the TP2, WERE actually the choke points, and NOT the 3G. There a re NUMEROUS threads and posts about the difference in speed on 3G, averaging close to double the speed.

I have posted that 4G is now the LEAST important reason to get this phone, in fact, I don't care if I EVER use it for speed, though maybe for data and voice at the same time. 4G went WAY DOWN in my book of reasons to have this phone, after using it for a week against my TP2.

Boo Boo also makes it hard to give good advice to because of her/his sardonic entries as to type of phone and carrier.

SO what?? I do too and i haven't even used 4G yet, the coverage is spotty at best and horrible indoors. That 1 bar youre getting is your phone struggling to search/keep a connection. Trust youre killing your battery, the phone is just as glorious on 3G, if not better cause it lasts longer. Turn it off for a day and report back

pretend 4G doesnt even exist and just call it an Evo (unless youre outside and NEED a connection that fast, for some reason)

Agreed... The 4g is just a differentiator for this phone and Sprint to stand out. And once the 4g network is mature and coverage is vast 4g will be a standard. Sprint wanted to be the first carrier in the US with 4g service and a 4g phone and honestly that is a big reason I stick with them. I like the fact that they have balls even though this whole 4g thing could likely backfire on them. The 4g for me is just like having a world phone. I am only gonna use it a maybe once or twice in the lifetime of this phone (non 4g area here and I doubt we will get it before end of 2011 or 2012, New Orleans always gets the crap end of the stick)

Believe it or not, the SF Bay Area hasn't got it either. Silicon Valley.......

Re: battery = horrible less than 4 hours standby

Trust me its not all its cracked up to be. Im in 4g market and ive only got a 4g singal ONCE while on the highway going home from buying it. No signal in/near my house, no signal at the beach, no signal walking to the store. Do not believe the hype, living in a "4g market" is not all that

It's all about frequency. WiMax is extremely high frequency, which doesn't penetrate well. In the audible range, it's why when those little squirt rap guys guys drive by, your house or car vibrates. Low frequency can even be used to bring down buildings or cities, as Tesla started to demonstrate. The US tried to use it against the Germans, but it screwed them up as much as the Germans, because it goes in all directions.

High Freqency, on the other hand, doesn't penetrate, and sells a lot more records.
