Re: *TUTORIAL*: Touch Pro2 > Evo 4G : Contact Switch

So, wait, I'm confused.

If I assigned the contact pictures from within the gmail account, will they transfer to my Evo, or is this only for those who imported their contacts from their previous phone via exchange?

Because the newer versions of ActiveSync do not support the certificate socket connections required to connect to Google's servers.

No idea what a certificate socket is. Did you mean SSL? Where did you read this? I want to see official documents.

Yes, the TBExport.exe will work on any Windows Mobile device.

i already had all my contacts in outlook. i just opened outlook.. went to File>export/import>export to a file>next>comma sep values windows>selected contacts as my folder>next>told it to save to my desktop or wherever... then opened up gmail and imported contacts..the csv file your outlook wizard just created on your desktop.

Re: *TUTORIAL*: Touch Pro2 > Evo 4G : Contact Switch

This is nuts.

The GMail contact importer is crap. I wanted to clean up my 200 or so contacts I had so I exported them from our accounting system into Excel, cleaned everything up and reexported as CSV with field headers.

Now this is where it gets interesting. Gmail will not import correctly - it sticks most stuff into the Notes: field on their system. Totally stupid!

So, did some searching and found this is an all too common problem. Then I used the Field headers that their system created during an export - I just changed the info contained within and it STILL screws the data up - putting most data into the Notes field.

Correct, that is another way to do so. But that is only for people who have Microsoft Office Outlook installed on their computer.

The way that has been originally posted is for everybody to use, regardless if they have Outlook on their computer.
