I still say the pre's pictures are ok. I am well aware of how cameras work and that the number of megapixels is not the only measure of a camera. However the PRE is STILL not all that. I am glad you are in love with the Pre camera great happy for you. But you are an insulting ass! It is a phone deal with it!

sorry to let yall know evo is not the end all be all. Im in no way a pre lover, i cant wait to get the evo and sell this pre and tp2 BUT i can see things from an unbiased POV and admit the camera on the EVO (all HTC phones really) sucks even for camera phone, compared to older competition. the only thing they did right on EVo camera is autofocus and dual LED, which is great dont get me wrong

I took a look at the alledged Palm pics in the slideshow and they look exceptional. That being said, you must have won the lottery with your Pre because neither any of the two that I had or any that my coworkers have take pics that look like that. Granted, the Pre's camera is leagues better than my current TP2 which has perhaps the worst camera I have seen on any recent high end phone.

im insulting b/c you were talkin out your a$$, just throwin around that the pre is a bad phone and comparing mega pixels without any hard proof of quality of one vs the other. so i had to post up some hard evidence of htc's lacking camera quality to shut you up. if you feel insulted then maybe you should be.

if you have any proof/comparison shot showing that this camera puts out better quality than the pre ill gladly agree.

perhaps your right. maybe i am lucky. It does take exceptional pics in daylight BUT just like every other camera phone it does get shoddy in low light (not as grainy as htc's but gets weird yellowing effect), unfortunately. and it doesnt have autofocus so close up shots are a no no. But besides those 2 things, in my experience it is the best there is as far as smartphone cams go. i dont even bother using the camera on my tp2, its best to just pretend like it doesnt exist

I really wish I could rip the pre's camera off and throw it in the evo. Would be perfect IMO

Despite all the negative talk here... I think the pics and vids in the OP look great. When watching the YouTube clips, be sure and change to 720p to get the full quality. Not sure if they were 24fps but they looked pretty smooth to me.

With regards to the post comparing TP2 and Pre cameras - your TP2 pics almost look like they were shot at a lower res than the camera is capable of. My TP2 has taken way better pics than that.

See, I personally am very excited for the camera on the Evo from what I've been seeing. Compare this to my TP and it's night and day. My shutter speed is horrific, that's my no.1 excitement point. Secondly if I move my camera or someone on it moves while I'm doing a video it's nothing but a blur fest, you can actually move the camera around and it all stays a solid piece of mass.

So excited, 1 more week!

it was taken at max res. scaled down for the net of course but so was the pre pic. If you have good quality pics from the tp2 please post (or pm me them, i already took this thread off topic enough) because mine hasnt put out a half decent pic since ive owned it. its useless, if i remember right my tp1 and even my mogul put out clearer pics than my tp2
