I loved charging my TP2 with my PS3...damn EVO!
You still should be able to.. The part you would stick in the PS3 is still the standard USB.. the part you put in the phone is the micro USB

You can ? So what is the big issue? If I can you use the same cord to charge controllers that I use for my TP2 and soon to be EVO what the problem?

Just in case anyone is interested in the differences between Resistive (TP, TP2) & Capacitive (EVO, iPhone) touchscreens...

He was saying change the cord to the Micro USB or get an adapter. I have one for my Plantronics head set.

As for the screen comments. GREAT! Hyper sensitive FTW. And only for bare skin! no more pocket dialing! once your used 2 it, it'll be hard to go back. Everytime sum1 with a hero/pre/iphone/moment/etc handles my TP2, they always flick and swipe and nuthing happens, and i have to tell them, push down on it more. Embarrasing.

But they make special gloves u can use that work with capacitive screens. they have like magnets on the tips.
Pocket dialing wouldn't be an issue anyway, since the Evo's screen apparently doesn't turn itself on for every little thing like the WinMo phones do, I'm not sure anything turns it on other than the power button.

You can't, at least not without the mini to micro adaptor

Re: Posting from my $400 Evo

If you're concerned about the mirco usb port and the fact that you already had a bunch of mini-usb cables, it's much cheaper to buy new cables than it is to buy an adapter.
At least from what I've seen.

This was also discussed in the accessories section.

Adapters, for now are pricey, at least until monoprice starts to sell them. In the mean time, you can start stocking up on cables. I'm buying 2 EVO's. I buying about 8 cables.
two 3ft cables for the cars ($0.96 each)
six 6ft cables for the pc's/wall chargers/office ($1.34 each)
Might even get a 15ft cable for $2.02 just to say I have one

Monoprice ftw -

Re: Posting from my $400 Evo

I don't understand the complaint about the whole micro-usb thing. Technology is never going to stay the same. The moment you get comfortable with something is when it completely changes. That's just the way it is and always will be.

I'm all for the capacitive screens. The only thing I will miss being able to do with the stylus is writing notes with it. I will live though.

The issue is that most of us still have things running of the mini USB plugs, so in every car, there will now have to be the power port plug, and 2 cords. In a supposedly wireless age, I've got more wires than ever. Like in the paperless age, we are created more printed pages than ever. It's a paradox. And I don't see how the micro is enough smaller to make it worth the hassle. It seems like just a year or so ago that all sorts of manufacturers signed on to some worldwide agreement about the mini USB plug, and it seemed every new device used it for a while. What an improvement that was over the myriad of plugs before. Now it appears that the agreement is somewhat out the window, though at least these micro USB plugs aren't proprietary like in the old days

Its not about being smaller with the new micro-usb vs the mini-usb, its about how many times it lasts plugging it in and out. Micro lasts thousands of "plugs" more.

to quote myself from a past thread..
Quote:
The newer Micro-USB receptacles are designed to allow up to 10,000 cycles of insertion and removal between the receptacle and plug, compared to 1500 for the standard USB and 5000 for the Mini-USB receptacle. This is accomplished by adding a locking device and by moving the leaf-spring connector from the jack to the plug, so that the most-stressed part is on the cable side of the connection. This change was made so that the connector on the (inexpensive) cable would bear the most wear instead of the micro-USB device.
