Things sure sound different if they are taken out of context and/or misquoted huh?

Re: Sprint ok's FREE HOT SPOT on 2.2 and teethering
I am going to say this one more time. Show me where it is that Hesse said:
He didn't, he said that 4G is cheaper than 3G. Reason being is that WiMAX cell sites are smaller thus costing less to build and maintain than CDMA cell sites. See my other post about this with a link to a video showing the differences for the cell sites of the different technologies. If there is a device that just runs on 4G than the cost to run the network that powers that device would be cheaper than an identical 3G device with an identical network. But that is not what we are dealing with huh? We are talking about a device that will operate on a 3G network and will operate on 4G network. It is using double the capacity, double electricity, double manpower for maintenance, etc. So of course the cost to run a 3G/4G device would be more to run just a 3G device or just a 4G device. It's like having an import racecar. You can put in a better engine, turbo charger, etc. The cost of fuel to run that car would be cost of gas. Now, if you have those things and decide you would like to add a Nitrous line and tank. To run it at optimum you would need to pay for regular gas and the nitrous gas. How would someone think adding something to something else would cost less than the original something? |

Re: Sprint ok's FREE HOT SPOT on 2.2 and teethering
Exactly, if look at the exact quote below it starts with "4G", not 3G/4G! He is saying 4G will cost less than it's predecessor, 3G.
If you look at his analogies of home interenet getting faster and faster while the price being higher. When you had (if you had) dial up at home and then you switched to low speed DSL, did you still use both dial up and DSL? No, one would just use DSL. If you had DSL and switched to a cable modem, did you continue to run DSL while using the cable modem? No, you would just use cable modem. Now if you used a cable modem and DSL wouldn't you be paying more than either service alone? Of course you would because you would be using two services. End point, Hesse was talking about the performance of 4G alone being better than while costing less than 3G alone. Quote:

He clearly says it will be free, and also says they are not charging any more for it. Those are his exact words, and you can see it for youself in that video. |

and an EVO is no more capable of being a bandwidth hog than any of the other several 1ghz devices out already.... non 4G customers will barely be able to use more band than they already do now on current devices

Still, you are actually adding in to what I'm trying to explain. The cost to make one penny is worth more than the penny itself. So the U.S. Government is eating the extra cost of the penny. Why would a think a company out for profit in a free market would eat the cost of anything? Show me where: The cost of A plus the cost of B equals AB. Cost AB equals less than cost of A or cost of B. A + B = AB AB = <A AB = <B There may be a situation where the above is true, I just can't think of one. We are getting away from my issue with the discussions, which is Hesse never said what others are saying he said. They are either misunderstanding it, misquoting it, or taking it out of context to back what they feel and want. |

Last I checked, you still get the SD channels when you upgrade to the HD package. So your whole point is wrong. |
