I'm not sure of your QA/QC process or if your required to send the phone back to Sprint or something like that.
I just want to thank you for sharing your inside knowledge with us instead of listening to all these people who think they know (myself included).

"official" policy would be that once the phone is activated, returned, then deactivated we're supposed to send it back to be flashed/refurbed but it probably depends on the manager/associate you're working with. if it were me i'd just turn around and give it back to you just as you're asking however i can't speak for all stores and all associates so they may insist on giving you a new one (which would actually cost the store more, may wanna point that out)
i don't know if it would freak out the manager of your store of choice but you may want to call ahead just to ask
worst case if they're going to jerk you around then return the phone you "tested" then come back a couple hours later and run your upgrade (may also want to explain that, then its logical to just give you your test phone back)
also, if they do go along with what you're up to, be sure the first thing you do with the phone is a prl update otherwise your web will be screwed up all day long
and no problem, i'm here to help
