Re: Android Froyo 2.2 FACTS

just thought of a question hopefully someone knowledgable can answer for me.

its in regards to the auto app update feature. if i for example purchase an app online from gameloft for example sake. i purchase it from their website but the same game also appears in the marketplace and they subsequently release an update for it. will the auto update feature still work or does it only work with apps youve installed from the marketplace? or better yet can the market detect that i have sideloaded said game to allow the auto update feature to work??

i hope that makes sense.

thanks in advance

if you download the apk from their website, when you install it on your phone if it is available in the marketplace, when you go to downloads it will be there and already show "installed" basically once installed it will show up in downloads.

Re: Android Froyo 2.2 FACTS

I believe that the Evo will NOT get any (official) quick 2.2 support UNLESS Sprint figures a way to kill the Froyo HotSpot function, OR severely limit it in some kind of way. Otherwise, expect hell to freeze over. lol

according to these guys its up to the carrier, which is what we all believed anyways. Not hard to disable at all.

Re: Android Froyo 2.2 FACTS

I'm not sure how reputable these guys are, but they are saying Android 2.2 for the EVO in July...

it will come over the air but you will have to wait for sprint to release it. Fortunately this is their flagship phone and i don't expect them to drag their feet. According to google, serveral phones will be getting the update in the next few weeks (june or july) i'm willing to bet the evo is one of these devices as well as the incredible.
