Tax should be calculated on the $199.99 as that is what you are paying for. In FL even if they did it on the $299.99 it would only add $7.00 in my county so I'm not all that worried about it.

The tax is added from the $50 GC! not from the phone. I payed $54.88 total (Cali = LA)

Yes, but they will add tax to the remaining $150 that you owe. I believe he was asking whether you pay tax on the pre or post instant rebate amount.
