Well, shoot yourself if that is even a question (for everyone on sprint)! I'm just happy the phone will only be $199 (I can use my upgrade....along with other stuff).......and Wimax isn't even that big if a deal to be complaining about paying for.........especially considering how many places in the U.S. have it!

I'm coming from a Touch Pro 2 (like the majority of us) and even people thats coming from Android phones should be lucky! This phone is gonna be a beast........and when WiMax gets widespread just think of how many other people are gonna be paying for 4G?! This right here is Sprints breakthrough........because I don't think they will have another chance @ this!

Just like Curb71 said, "It is what it is" and thats it! If you don't wanna pay for it.......than don't pay for it.......simple as that!

i think everyones grip is that it was said by dan that there will not be a charge for 4g. that was a big thing when he announced it. that was their way of differentiating (sp?) themselves from the rest.

now this has just slapped us in the face. more so for us sero users who will need to move to a plan that is double in price, then this add on, then i'm sure another addon and another until tmobile is cheaper.

i am coming from the tp1 and at this rate i think i may keep my tp1 for $30 a month on 3g rather than $100 a month for 4g on a kick ass phone. but we'll see, time will tell what really happens.

If everyone who was big on the phone decided to say GO TO HELL SPRINT and leave it, they would eliminate the fee. They cant sit here and act like they can afford another flagship phone failure.

Im not going to lie to you, as much as i want this phone, coming from a legacy plan that i only pay $30 a month for after taxes, I may just want to stick with it. Even with discounts I will be paying twice as much for less. Pick 5, unlimited data, unlimited incoming, and google voice already gives me a completely unlimited plan.

I just sent the following to Sprint CS but I doubt it will get far:

I have been eagerly awaiting the HTC EVO 4G since the day of its announcement, but recent pricing information has caused me to reconsider my purchasing decision.

I find it appalling that Sprint wishes to charge me an additional $10/month just for the privilege of owning their newest phone. I guess paying $70/month for the Everything Data plan just isn't enough. Instead, I'll have to pay Sprint $80/month (that's $240 over the two-year contract) for THE SAME EXACT PLAN that others are paying $70/month for. Since my area probably won't see 4G service until next year at least, this means I'm paying $10 extra for absolutely nothing. Way to deceive your customers: that $200 price tag is more like a $540 price tag, when you consider the additional $10/month.

I am not alone. Note this topic - http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=120920 - on PPCGeeks, a smartphone enthusiast forum consisting of hundreds of EVO fans awaiting this phone's release. Excitement has turned to anger and annoyance in a matter of minutes after the additional charges were announced. At this rate, I might as well switch to Verizon: they're no longer much more expensive, and they have better coverage anyway.

Sprint executives must be stupid. They just turned what could have been an iPhone-killer into a niche device that will only sell to geeks who live in 4G areas. Nice going, Sprint.

You are paying $10 for a service so one would expect to pay for something they CANNOT use. Doesn't make sense.

I suppose it will become more clear as the release date approaches but I'm betting that Sprint will waive the extra $10 for thos in "backwoods" areas like I'm living in. On the other hand, I bet that if I don't get the EVO I could get a TP2 or Hero on the cheap after it comes out...

[Update]: We’ve done some digging and it sounds like the $10 premium is nothing new: it’s for customers that want more options with Sprint’s Mobile TV service, alongside other EVO-independent options. As far as we know, 4G and 3G plans will cost the same (save for mobile hotspot access).

I say we should all buy sprint stock and elect monkeys to the board of directors..we will make a huge profit as the stock will sky rocket up due to 10x increase in productivity...and monkeys work off bananas instead of million dollar salaries..

the 4g usage is an option, not mandatory. obviously if you don't live in a 4g area you will opt out for that option.
