Re: Which OS are you switching from for the EVO?

I don't know if I can officially say I will be switching from WM because I may end up using my TP2 from time to time. Same thing I did when I had a Pre and an iPhone, I switched it up. Nonetheless, put me down for WM.

Their target demographic is obviously high school kids now instead of business professionals, hackers, and gadget addicts. They hit a home run with Windows 7, but WP7 is just fail.

It's a shame, but thankfully Android is our savior.
IMHO, I don't think WP7 is going after high school students. The new Metro UI is very clean and professional. I think the UI looks very simple and conducive to getting things done, and may have a strong attraction towards business users even moreso than the current platform. It is hard for me to say either way what I think of the OS and I will not make my final call until I try it out for myself.

Re: Which OS are you switching from for the EVO?

1st. Palm OS on my Centro (went through 2)
I loved the phone and the os but couldnt pass up getting a brand new TP for $180 and being put on the top of the waiting list by a friend that works in the corp office (not to mention getting 2 free months to help pay for it)
*Retired*

2nd WM 6.1 running Twisted Rom on my TP (went through 3)
I really loved this phone when i 1st got it. Nice 2.8in screen, real nice keyboard, skype and the other apps, and the ability to really customize it and make it your own phone.
*Retired*

3rd Blackberry OS 8350i (only had to buy 1)
This was on my Boost line (2nd line). I was never a big fan of Blackberry and still not but it was a much better phone then what Boost offered on there Iden line and i need a full qwerty.
*Retired*

4th WM 6.5 running Mighty Rom(and current) TP2 (only had to buy 1)
This is my current phone on my main line. After using the TP and its 2.8 screen and crappy speaker phone, this was like night and day. Everyone with a TP2 already knows about how great, and i mean great the keyboard is on this phone. This keyboard has set the bench mark in my book for phones period. The 1500mah battery combined with a great speaker and 3.6in tilt screen made my slingbox app really like a portable tv. This will go down as one of the best phones Ive owned. It will be missed to but like the rest of the phones on this list, not to far if ever needed.
*Still in use*

5th Blackberry OS 8330 (only had to buy 1)
Well like i said before, im not much of a fan for Blacberries but this one like the other Blackberry is on my 2nd line thats now Boost CDMA. I originally had my TP on this line after i bought my TP2 but could never get the data to fully work after trying many different ##data work and the phone just showing its age and running slow. I need a fully qwerty for this line and wanted a phone that would give me little to know trouble so i went with it.
*Still in use*

The Evo will be my 3rd phone this yr and like the others, will probably pay full price and just let my upgrade sit pretty just in case Sprint releases another monster later this yr or for next yrs bad boy.

What can i say, I love my gadgets and treat them like woman treat shoes, im always buying them even when i dont really need them but just want them.

Ill save my break down on how much ive spent on new gadgets this yr alone for another time smh.

Re: Which OS are you switching from for the EVO?

I think that Windows Phone 7 is a very compelling OS but I'm looking for a bit more freedom than I believe it will afford. It will appeal to a large audience but I'm not sure if that audience is us. Also they have waited way too long to even announce a release date and I want a new phone.

Re: Which OS are you switching from for the EVO?

We all know that at the end of the day, WP7 is geared towards Iphone users. Microsoft wants to take a large chunk of Apple's pie and also try to maintain a good amount of its old customers but doesnt mind losing the real tech nerds for a taste of that sweet Apple pie, pun intended.

Re: Which OS are you switching from for the EVO?

I am surprised their are so many people switching to android. I don't use my tp for business but I used to like it
(my touch pro), but Microsoft is falling behind the pack now. Are you switching because the EVO is badA$$ or the 4g aspect, or both? For me its both, I need something new, now I can learn about rooting my evo, since I am a android virgin. lol

This shows how frustrated people are with winmo. Like I said in a previous post, alot of people are simply tired of microsofts lack of inovation and/or progress when it comes to the mobile platform. I mean seriously other than gps how different is my ppc6700 from 5 years ago compared to my tp2 now? Then look at android when it came out a few years ago and look at it now, simply amazing if you ask me. Also look at any winmo phone thats out right now, not one of them will be able to upgrade to winmo7.

You my friend are exactly right. All of my die hard winmobile friends have there eye on android. Some have switched and some are waiting for the EVO. But I do have a friend that switched from the G1 to the HD2 ( the phone is real nice but really?????). Android is the fast growing OS, and seems to be gaining the most ground because of dissatisfied winmobile users.

Re: Which OS are you switching from for the EVO?

I will try to hold back my tear as I will let my TP2 go. We been together for a while now but I wasn't satisfy what you have to offer. You wasn't fast enough at the moment of my happiness, you know that's what I want, it really pleases me you know. Yes, at first you were my everything and now my heart has no place for you. It's EVO that my heart is aching for, I have been researching for a while now. I feel soo bad that it was done behind your back. Some one out there will love you the way I used to. Good buy my lover, good bye my friend. We'll will meet again when you turn 7 if is meant to be. Here is something for you and please kept close to your heart @}}-}---- -Love, Yang704
