Re: Windows Mobile on Evo?

i would wipe android clean off my evo for windows mobile 6.5.3..
i wouldn't even think twice about it.

if i were using my device as a toy, then evo would stay on, but i would still wipe it for WinMo.

I believe that can be done fairly easily. What you do first is erase all info off the evo. Then, you take it to your local craigslist. Then, and this is the important part, title it "Trade my HTC Evo for an HD2". At this point, the OS will "Flash" over to winmo and be fully working.

Depending on the distance between the seller and the buyer, maybe.

Re: Windows Mobile on Evo?

Seeing as the Evo is CDMA and WP7 has only been released on GSM phones I don't think that you would see a port over. Microsoft really dropped the ball here stating that they don't plan on releasing a CDMA WP7 till late next year. So far WP7 looks cool and if they get the app support out there it may be an awesome phone, but only releasing it on GSM it doesn't give us Sprint and Verizon customers an option and I think most of the brain washed AT&T customers would stick with the Iphone than switch to Windows.

??? I use my evo for business, and I can do it without a freakin stylus. Compared to Android, wm is frustrating and old. If I were HTC, I would give up on wm completely. They were forced to come up with sense to make the os bearable. I guess ms was making a half-assed try with the new start menu, and 6.5.x has some finger friendly menus, but as soon as you dig much deeper than that (like into office applications), you have to pull the monkey stick out.

IMO, wm 7 looks like it exhibits the same old tradition of too little to late. In the videos that I have seen, it looks like they tried to come up with some kind of retro theme, and, from what I have heard, they locked the phone down (no more cabs) and made no provisions in the os system for external storage (sd cards).

When comparing the Evo to the HD2, the stylus argument kind of goes away, since both screens are capacitive. While they do make a stylus for capacitive screens, it's just like you would be touching that area with your finger. I don't believe they have pinpoint accuracy, like they do with resistive screens. I do kind of (read only kind of) miss the titanium home screen. I liked how you had access to your emails, texts, calendar, etc, all from the home screen. And you could scroll through them, right on the home screen, by swiping left, or right, without having to dive into the app itself, which I do agree, led you back to the crappy WM applications that the launcher so desperately tried to conceal. Sense was not something I liked in WM devices. When I had my mogul, I never used sense. It was always titanium only.

The only WP7 phone I know of right now to use non-sd card memory is one of the dell phones (I think). All the others appear to use micro-sd cards. Although, you must take your phone apart, and void your warranty, in order to replace them. So, non-replaceable memory is only a half-true statement.

Nope, the Dell Venue Pro uses microSD too, just covered by a warranty sticker. At least you don't have to take it apart to access it.

Dell Venue Pro has a microSD card slot, you'll just need to void your warranty to use it -- Engadget

LOL... so basically if you change the SD card you're SOL if something goes wrong with the phone? #FAIL
