Make your evo compatible with TouchStone, for 10 bucks! (Includes TouchStone charger)
Well, it will may require a little handy skill, but looks simple enough to do
1) Buy TouchStone base and pixi inductive cover(you will be taking it apart) from the VZW store(free overnight shipping) 2) Read and repeat G/L Bought one to try on my TP2 Last edited by Aleki; 07-08-2010 at 02:59 AM. |

I think this was posted once before... and IIRC, the general consensus was - cool but not worth voiding the warranty... I'd just assume use something like this or this

To be honest, I'm not too sure. Perhaps it was done that way to prevent overcharging?
Abrigham, that link gives me a very good idea. It will involve a shaved mini usb plug wired to the inductive charging mechanism on the cover of my phone, that way nothing will be soldered, and I can easily unplug it if the TouchStone charger isnt around. Those mats look a little too clunky to be convenient, and I'd rather rig something up for 10 bucks rather than paying for something like that (I know, I know, I'm a nucklehead for trying) |

I thought that the batteries had overcharge protection built in, if so then that wouldn't be an issue.

WOW.... um, I'll just plug it in the normal way. Thanks though.

what happened to powermat? They don't ever jump on hot android devices for their wireless charging tech...

Almost all new phone batteries will include a charging overload protection circuit. Even the cheap ones on eBay have overload protection. It should be as easy as just soldering two wires to the + and - PIXI charging back and making a connection on your + and - on the battery. If you use a small enough gauge wire you should be able to just insert the bare ends of the wires before the battery is fully inserted. Same thing for the TP2, as the batteries used are the same ones in the EVO. I'm in for one and will report back with my results. If it doesn't have an "i" or "berry" somewhere in the name most companies can care less. Just think about the premise with the "iPhone 4, EVO 4G" video. The accessories for the iPhone 4 will blow up on the scene asap as they always do and EVO will trickle. |

I agree that the mats do look a bit clunky, but it with the "power disc" option (second link from my previous post) you could have your EVO propped up w/ the kickstand and still charging since the disc is what has to make contact with the mat. But cheaper is always better |
