Just got back from Sprint and they just received their Screen Protectors in.

It's 12.99 and it comes w/ 3, 1x anti-glare and 2x clear

pics of the packaging and pics of the anti-glare one on...I didn't do the best job of putting it on, but it covers the entire screen w/ just maybe a mm more overlay

comes w/a nice microfiber cleaning cloth as well

I've given up on finding the perfect screen protector.

Zagg was the best out of the ones I tried.

Clearfreak = garbage.
Phantomskinz = had glue from the manufacturer on the front of both screen protectors = fail = SENDING ME REPLACEMENTS. COOL.

Gonna hit up clearvue next..

There is another big thread on screen protector's over at androidforums. The consensus seems to be either Boxwave or Clarivue. In particular I hear glowing reviews about Boxwave's anti-glare. I personally ordered Clarivue's clear protector, which should be coming in tomorrow.

@Torx yes it can be scratched.

Re: EVO Screen Protectors Thread

So it sounds like there is a lot of experience on this thread. Hopefully you guys can answer my question.

I installed my Ghost Armor protector last night and I'm satisfied with the quality, but there are some streaks on the top half of the screen. They aren't micro-bubble streaks but are very even and transparent. I'm wondering if these will dissipate after a few days like the micro-bubble streaks? Has anyone else ever encountered this?

I'm hoping that I did not somehow damage my screen.

Thanks for the help!

Re: EVO Screen Protectors Thread

I may have found the answer to my question. This appears to be a manufacturer defect. If anyone else experiences this after install there is more info here: http://androidforums.com/accessories...or-normal.html

So the phantomskinz didn't work out? Was the glue supposed to be there?

Re: EVO Screen Protectors Thread

Here's my 2 cents. I had zagg on my previous phones but didnt like the rubbery feel to it. I switched to Stienhiel crystal clear for my TP2 and loved it. Unfortunately they do not yet make it for the Evo so I did some research and decided on the Clarivue. I love it. The only problem I have with it is that the cut is slightly too narrow and there is a cutout for the proximity sensor which I am not sure is necessary. I will take pictures of it if anybody wants when I get home.

Wirelessly posted (Sprint HTC Evo : Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.1-update1; en-us; Sprint APA9292KT Build/ERE27) AppleWebKit/530.17 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/530.17)

Zagg has the same feel as my phantoms skinz 1 i used on my tp2 n jus like that 1 it isnt a 100% fit. I was hoping my case would make up the difference but nope. The perimeter of it acts like a lint roller as my pocket doodoo seems to b sticking there but w.e .... if i keep this phone ill check out different 1z possibly starting with the ones sprint sells like yang88she mentioned

I have my phantom in the package still since I don't get my EVO until Friday. It does feel similar to the Zagg but a bit smoother. The reason I got it was mainly because it's not supposed to have the "orange peel" effect. Did you experience this? If anything, I'll be using the it for the body and something else for the screen.

Do you see any decreased clarity with the anti-glare? How is the surface texture of it? These are dry application protectors?

I use the Sprint ones too.

No decrease in clarity. The texture was kind of a rough feeling one at first but it quickly goes away and it becomes smooth. Dry application. 12.99 for 3 stock Sprint protectors was a hell of a deal. Very nice.

How the anti-glare then? Better in sunlight?

mlin 06-09-2010 06:59 PM

Re: EVO Screen Protectors Thread

I think the anti-glare is better in sunlight, but I feel like there is a slight decrease in screen clarity. With the anti-glare protector, the screen looks slightly grainy.

No orange peel feeing. its pretty smooth & the screen is very responsive .

That's what I expected. I've never seen one that didn't decrease clarity at least to some degree.

So what do you not like about it? The fit and how it attracts gunk?

Re: EVO Screen Protectors Thread

Sometimes the screen protector isn't really anti-glare!

yang88she 06-10-2010 01:49 AM

Re: EVO Screen Protectors Thread

honestly after having the anti-glare for a couple of days, I'm going to switch to the clear...

I'm not in the sun light too often (yes I am a vampire, how did you guess?...j/k I'm in doors most of my day)

So the "anti-glare" does take away some of the "luster" of the nice screen.

No not at all. Glue from when they glued the "Application Tool" err flimsy credit card thing to the packaging.

They made good though and claim to have sent replacements today. We'll see.

Well, I am another victim of screen water damage from the water/soap solution!!

I *did not* apply the solution directly to the phone, only to the back of the protector and to my fingers. As I squeegeed the water I soaked it up in the corners with a shammy towel.

Ugh... :(

So what happened to your EVO? I've done the water/soap solution 4 times on previous phones and never had trouble. Don't know how I avoided water from seeping into the corners now that I think about it

Re: EVO Screen Protectors Thread

So, my mom just got her "wave 2" EVO from best buy yesterday and brought it over for me to tweak...I noticed a screen protector on her phone. She said yeah, I had them just put one on before I left. I asked her if it was a Zagg and she confirmed. I hated it. Very rubbery, tacky, finger sticks while scrolling then the phone thinks that you clicked something and you have to go back...pain in the ass...I had he try my Clearfreak. She was like WOW that is really smooth no problem at all. Also the lady at best buy told her that the Zagg would smooth out over the next few days...any truth to this... I have never used Zagg before. My first experience with them is seeing one on her phone.

Re: EVO Screen Protectors Thread

Got my Evo yesterday and put on a full body phantom skinz first thing. Here's my 2 cents:

1) Pretty much a thinner slightly smoother zagg/bse
2) Minimal orange peel effect (have to view at an angle to see it)
3) Less tacky
4) Nicely cut, almost perfect (perfect because it gives you a little wiggle room for installation)

I would definitely recommend this over a zagg. But ultimately it's too similar for me to stick with it. Even though the PS is less tacky, you still get a bit of resistance when you glide your fingers. If you press harder you can feel the gummy feeling. Personally I prefer a hard dry application screen protector. It just feels more like a the hard slickness of glass. As for the body skin, I didn't use the side protectors as they always seem to make the phone cheap looking with the discontinuous corners (especially over time). The back is cut precisely and does the job. However it did slip my mind that the whole back is a door which seems easily replaceable so a protector may not be necessary.

Anyone use the one from Sprint? I bought it because you get 20% off when you buy items?

Re: EVO Screen Protectors Thread

blockburner check a few pages back.someone posted pictures of the sprint anti glare. I picked up the Sprint ones. Didn't realize they only cover the screen rather than the whole face of the evo? Doh!

On a side note, I polished the phantom skin with some car polish and it made it pretty slick. Much better now but I don't think it'll last too long?

Re: EVO Screen Protectors Thread

I also bought the phantom skin kit but I bought the matte finish one. I'm pretty happy with it overall, much better than zagg. They send me 2 full sets in matte also 2 regular clear pieces for just the screen. Quality of the pieces are pretty good, no glue on the front of them as others have said. The matte looks and feels really nice on the phone just not on the screen...it gives a lot of distortion makes the screen look dull and fuzzy. I just took it off and put the clear one on today and I love it so far.

If u're getting phantom be sure to use that summersale2010 code to get ur 30% off, mine came out to be around $17 and I also paid for priority shipping. They screwed me on shipping cus priority is $5 more and they didn't ship priority. The envelope says first class and the amount was for $.61!

I went with the max protect zagg kit. Covers the back, sides, even the kickstand, yeah boy, sides were a little toigh to work with but they feel good now. i am not a case guy, but gotta protect this monster. I feel much better now about the sides with the zagg shield. Looks and feels great. Anyone else go with this option?

Nice. Steinheil's should provide a smoother feel than my phantom. Especially now that I started using swype.

i like phantom.. used it on my tp2

i did get the full kit for it but found it a waste... i couldnt get the side on for anything... so i only had the screen and the back for the tp2..

i didnt bother with the back on the evo cause like you said i can just replace it.. the side would be nice to protect but after my problems with the side on the tp2 i said screw it.

but i tried zagg and phantom and phantom is better hands down... dont get me wrong zagg is not bad either but too thick and it can have the orange peal look

Re: EVO Screen Protectors Thread

I've got the Clarivue Anti-glare with the Seidio innocase. No problems whatsoever. It took me a while to put it on because I'm a perfectionist. I worked out every air bubble and used scotch tape to get the dust off. Very smooth finger scrolling across the screen. It's not sticky feeling or glossy feeling like clear tape. It's smooth like running your finger across my LCD monitor. I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned much already.

Bought these ezguardz from ebay (pack of 5):
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ht_2037wt_1138
$1.99 w/free shipping
they are kind of rubbery, you can take them off and put em back on. Kind of like window stickers. I didn't think I would like em at first but I haven't had a problem yet and it makes typing easier!
with $2 you can't go wrong

yang88she, What EVO case are you using????

just put my clarivue on.. sheesh i hate putting protectors on. good thing ive got a bit of experience with them which only yielded one dust particle on the edge this time.

the clarivue isnt cut fully to the side edges of the phone. so theres a minor gap on both left and right sides. maybe the case i buy will have that covered.
