I know TEP is going from 7$ to 8$
Racincason, thanks for your reply.

For #3, if my phone died, I am going to buy another new phone off fleabay while this dead phone get fixed at HTC, then when I get it back, I sell it on fleabay. Can I do this?

If my phone died with no fault of my own, I just pay $35 to Sprint? Then for those that do take care of their phone, whats the point of paying $7-$8 a month?

Re: Are you going to get warranty on your 3D?

Personally, I couldn't imagine not having insurance on my phone. While I haven't had much of an issue with my phones, insurance has saved me some repair fees. Probably not more than I have paid out though . I have had two TP1s and two TP2s (technically three TP2s - repair guys gave me a broken one for a day while a fully functional one came through the mail), both had issues come up that were out of my control and not as a result of abuse, neglect, dropping etc. I am not neccessarily hard on my phones, but all of my previous phones have gone without cases and screen protectors etc. This time will be completely different. I have already ordered up some cheap temporary cases with screen protectors while I wait to decide between Sedio and Otterbox for my phone and something for my wife's.

Then on the other hand my wife abuses the hell out of her phone (samsung Moment), loses it all the time (but finds it through luck or sprint family locator lol), and has dropped it in water....all without insurance and it is going strong.

Really...all insurance is a scam (ok that's just my opinion...). I bet I will pay out more money to any one single insurance company than they will ever pay back out to me. And if I lose that bet...I bet you I won't lose that bet twice because I will never be insurable by anyone else again rofl. I guess it is just that whole "peace of mind" crap. I know with having insurance on my phone I have a lot less to worry about if it is stolen, lost, damaged, etc.

To each there own though.

If you lose your phone without insurance you are SOL. I would also imagine that if your phone breaks due to something not covered (water damage maybe?) you would also be SOL.

I am not going to say it will never happen to me. Its just that is very unlikely that I will lose my phone. At work I have to careful not to leave it at the desk.

It is very unlikely that I will drop it in water unless I am fisherman or an angler. Now, condensation is a different problem.

So I am not a good candidate for phone insurance.

I fish, camp, and soon hope to get into hunting. Not to mention work can be pretty rough. Risk to losing or damaging my phone is pretty great. To be honest, I am not even sure how I have managed to not max out my insurance...guess I have just been lucky so far.

Personally, if I were more responsible and could trust myself to...I would probably not pay my insurance premium to Sprint and instead pay it into my savings account so that when i needed it it was there. Per phone that is about $200 a year which is about the difference you pay for on/off contract etc.

Honestly, if you can afford to pay out of pocket to replace/repair your phone and you do not expect it to be lost/stolen/damaged then I wouldn't worry about the insurance. Like I said chances are over your lifetime you'll pay more in insurance than they will pay out lol.

However, also keep in mind that no one EXPECTS their phone to be lost/stolen/damaged/etc and you don't have to be a fisherman/angler to drop your phone into water. I wonder how many people have lost their phone in the toilet or a glass of water/other beverage.

Really...I'm just playing Devil's Advocate here. In the end you will do what you think is best. And the way the universe works you will do things one way and find that you should have done them the other lol...

Insurance companies are profitable for a reason... just saying. If they didn't make money off of it they wouldn't sell it.

I'll reserve insurance for the truly huge costly things like medical/housing/car

Re: Are you going to get warranty on your 3D?

Yah, it in all my time I had smart phone, the electronics just died on me. Never had I have crack screen or water drop.

But I a little afraid that this phone is big and if you put in your pants, it might crack.

Even when I go running, I carry my TP2 in my hand inside the home made pouch.

OK, to summerized, if my phone died within one year, I sent it back to HTC to get fix. I am getting another new phone off fleabay. I might out of phone service for 1 week. Then when my phone get fixed, then I sell it on flebay to recoup the lost.

That saving of $8 for 1 yr is $96 can be used toward a new purchase n not refurbished phone.

That does make sense to me. That is what I will do. NO insurance.
