My fault, I figured the fact that the update is actually called the Diamond Maintenance Update would tip you off, I guess not.

Anyways, for those interested, here it is: http://www.htc.com/us/SupportDownloa...at=2&dl_id=530

Both the full QWERTY and the Compact QWERTY take up much less of the screen and the buttons are smaller.

Also there is a "fix" for hte keyboard dropping in and out in text message (should be on that thread) and a link to hte old keyboard (larger) as well as fingerkeyboard (awesome!) for alternatives.
Thank you very much for the link, I searched around last night but could not find anything for some reason.

You can install the ezinput version from pre/update to replace the smaller keys or use Fingerkeyboard (here on software forums.. its great!)

Yeah the link can be hard to find, the first thing to do is be sure you're selecting your country then the correct phones/carriers come up with whatever links/updates are valid.

Re: New Diamond Maintenance Update: WTF?

I think I'm going to try a custom ROM. I obviously need to read up on them, how to install and what not, but I just want a simple, stable ROM for occasional web browsing, but mostly for text and email, and suggestions?

This update really bothers me, "maintenance" fixes shouldn't be like this IMO.

Re: New Diamond Maintenance Update: WTF?

I don't know, It took a day or so to get used to it but I like this update better than the stock and I have not and do not plan to use a custom rom.... not for nothing but just not what direction I want to go.

I've never used a custom ROM either, but I'm curious. Everyone always seems to rave about how much better they are, I kinda wanted to give one a try, if it didn't work out I could always switch back, or brick and irreparably break my phone.

Re: New Diamond Maintenance Update: WTF?

IDK... there a lot of threads out there saying I use such and so rom and now I can't ..... or I have been using such and so rom and now all of a sudden .....

not much different than those complaints about stock

Mind you I am taking nothing away from the chefs and the users who choose custom... I'm just saying the grass may not taste as sweet as it looks it all depends on what you want and what you're willing to do to get it.

if youve never flashed a rom before this is really the only thread you need to read up on http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=36062 after you get your unlocking proggy and what not just go to the main cdma upgrade section (if you have a cdma phone) and find the rom of your liking, i prefer mightymikes roms, but i hear juicys are pretty awesome also.. everyones gonna have there own taste however if you take anything from this id recommend you stick with the wm6.1 roms, in my personal opinion i dont think the 6.5 roms are ready to be released, id give it some time before going in that direction, jumping to 6.5 is why im dealing with so many problems right now, my prefered rom would have to be mightyrom4.8, just stick that little bastard on your phone and your realize how bad *** of a phone you have, if you think thats awesome wait till you plug into a laptop and use the ol' internet sharing WHUUUUUT!

Re: New Diamond Maintenance Update: WTF?

There are so many custom roms, that it can make your head dizzy. My suggestion would be to unlock your phone, and get one of OMJ's roms. His are based on the Sprint shipped software ... just without all the extra junk that the carrier puts on them. They are very stable, and quite a bit quicker than stock. Here's a link ...

ftp://up.ppcgeeks.com/Diamond/Users/OMJ/ROMs/

Also, do yourself a favor and take Brenn's advice ... get finger keyboard installed on your phone ... you'll love it.

Re: New Diamond Maintenance Update: WTF?

you can also try touchpal. it is not free but simply amazing! also, one benefit of custom roms at this point is the ability to use 6.5 over 6.1. after using 6.5 i will never and hope i never have to go back to 6.1. it is not a giant leap forward, but its definitely a good solid few steps in the right direction.

Re: New Diamond Maintenance Update: WTF?

Thanks for all of the great suggestions guys, that OMJ one sounds very interesting, I don't need something crazy just with a little less crap.
